What we in LW (leisure World) do is we have 6 levels Starfish,penguins,turtles 1 and 2,dolphins and sharks, in starfish we teach them floating and safety before they move lvls!
Question. Would these procedures be helpful for an adult to learn how to swim? I know how to swim a little, because when I was 8 my dad decided to just throw me in the water and let me learn spontaneously without instruction (as his nephews and nieces pressured him to use this method) and I reacted by freaking out and was traumatized since. My main trouble is keeping my face above the water when swimming. In other words, I'm not a great floater.
Put your face in the water. If your head is up your feet will go down, if your feet go down, you will drown. Put your face in the water, your feet go up behind you, your body stays horizontal and you can actually go somewhere.
I know this was a year ago - but YES. These procedures would all be helpful for an adult. Many of these skills are necessary to be comfortable in before progressing into actual swimming strokes. Ex: the front "rocketship" glide with the hands above the head is necessary to learn front crawl, etc.! Glad to see that you are interested in swimming! Go get yourself some lessons and I'm sure you'll do great! Such a freeing experience!
I tryed that back glide with my kid, once he went into water he sinks emmidiattely like a brick of stone, what do i need to do? He only thinks about eating btw

Be patient, I can assure you the girl this instructor is using for demonstration had had at least a year of consistent practice to get to the level she shows in the video, she didnt get these skills overnight. Swimming is hard work

Torpedo is not the best symbol for lessons. Call it shark or arrow, but not torpedo. No parents should be forced to explain to theier child, what a torpedo is.

Make sure he is retaining full lungs of air also air in our lungs helps you float better
