I anledning 400-årsjubileet for sølvfunnet sommeren 1623 og anleggelsen av Kongsberg Sølvverk samme år, har Norsk Bergverksmuseum laget en ny kort-dokumentar om Sølvverket. Filmen er tekstet på engelsk.

Good film, especcialy the steigerlied at the end made me smile.
I would give one of my kidneys for the opportunity to explore the mines. We regularly visit Norway, and Kongsberg is always a must-stop. The mines have a somehow magical allure. The entire mountain is riddled with holes, and all of this, done with the simple tools of the past, is almost unimaginable.

Thank you for your kind words! Although exploration of the mines on your own is illegal today, we do arrange mine tours to Gottes Hülfe in der Noth mine every once in a while. It's a more "authentic" experience without electrical lighting, wooden floors etc. Welcome back to Kongsberg some day! Glück auf ⚒
