I think the reality is that Indo-European myths are just as important in understanding the west as Christianity, if not more considering the long process of Germanization of Christianity in the North. So insofar as the "west" is considered northern european cultures the indo-european mythosphere is almost central, especially when consider the context of Sloterdijk's work.
