- Cale Yarborough had a knack for driving fast, especially at Darlington. In this clip from our library, he describes the track in one of the earlier in-car camera clips.

Those engines sound amazing
Yes! That sounds is so wonderful, I think it's possibly 180° headers, but I'm not positive on that. I just know that it sounds amazing!
You can see him flicking the wheel to get the car rotating on entry. Straight badass
That’s what I do in iracing
@@themythicalv8me too
Amazing footage, amazing driver
The car was solid, looked planted and precise steering.
Insane amount of steering wheel movement, those cars had so much power and not a lot of grip.
RIP to one of the greatest
Im ready for 2024 nascar season
Hope it’s going to be a season to remember!
Only 4 weeks to go!
men... i can't tell enough how good and straight up badass that era was. different car shapes, different engine sounds, unreal speed... i mean, the only thing that makes me choke is of course the safety. but it was what it was. pretty sure that lap is super close if not superior to current cars right? i would've loved to get the lap time just to compare.
Love these laps with Cale.
That was just badass all I can say
Now, that's what a motor is supposed to sound like.
One of the top 3 drivers of all time!
This is that 1996-2007 Superspeedway sound back in the 70s! Was this thing running something similar to the Boom Tubes?
Rest in peace, Cale ❤
Few more weeks till Daytona 500 who is ready🎉
I am!
I am
That looks like so much more fun than present day.
Cale is and always will be a badass
Cale makes it look easy at Darlington. RIP legend.
When race car drivers were real drivers
such a wildly different racing line than is used today.
**Me taking notes on what he’s saying**
SHOW 🎉🎉
Back when these cars were real machines. Awesome
Miss you Cale
Total control.
10-2 is wild
Yes i am ready to watch Nascar racing 2024nin Daytona Beach the need for maximum hot speed.
Holy Crap!
It sounds like engine for motorcycle racing. It sounds good, but I prefer strong engine motor of NASCAR from the '90s, 2000s and present day.
rip cale
In those days race engines were the best in speed and turn 10,000rpm fast .
That is how I steer the 99 civic 4 door on the interstate lmao 🤣👏👌must've taught Bo and Luke everything they know rip Legendary Man
This guy is hauling ass legally
Why does the engine sound like a V6?
Omg. This had to be late sixties.
V6 ?
Weird how it doesn't sound like a v8 on camera
Because there were running 180 degree headers which made the different sound
@jiboo6850 look it up in the 1977 yearbook, they said teams started running 180° headers. It started with Richard Petty in the 1977 Atlanta 500.
Half of the sound you hear is the carb
@calvinsallee1180 wow really? I love 180 headers it's definitely my favorite configuration for a v8 for sure
