Very great initiative by FSSM ,where one hand to provide solution for water crisis and other hand provide job opportunity to very vulnerable section of society .it led confidence and self integrity among them as they are working for society and human need like water security and useful the very society who reject them to lable as they have no right live with self respect....Hats off the FSSM Team and DTE TEAM who showed us this very informative video.

Respect for the person who came up with the idea of employing the Hijra community in the FSM and providing them an actual alternative for livelihood.❤

Outstanding Idea Odisha is the role model for the treatment of sewage wastewater and it should be recognized as a pan-India movement to effectively utilize the precious water which is becoming crucial due to climate change

Great going Odisha. I wish and pray this waste water treatment is prioritized and implemented by all other affected area of India. I remember back in the late 70s when I visited my native village in Godavari district, the drinking water used to be sourced from local irrigation canals. Its not the case now.. They are contaminated by domestic black & grey water being directly dumped into them.

I am from Bihar. Whenever I see people realising the importance of water and coming together to take the accountability to conserve it ,it fills my heart with happiness. Also I am glad to see the transgender community involved in a work that makes them dignified and kudos to the women for a step towards realising independence.

instead of building sewage pipeline, they chose to subside building septic tanks at homes, municipality vehicle will come once in a while and collect the sludge, take to treatment plant and re-use the water and fertilizer.

    Summary
Odisha has successfully implemented a decentralised faecal sludge and septage management (FSSM) system to address the issue of untreated sewage in urban areas, serving as a model for other states to follow.
    Highlights
🌊 Rising urban population in India threatens water resources, with a projected demand of 1.5 trillion cubic meters by 2030.
🚽 Odisha's FSSM system effectively manages faecal sludge and septage, tackling water contamination issues.
🏞 Odisha's approach emphasizes decentralization and community involvement in maintaining infrastructure.
💪 Women and transgender individuals are actively participating in FSSM operations, gaining economic independence.
🌿 Efforts to create clean, hygienic cities include plantations and educational experiences at treatment facilities.
🌍 The Odisha model has been implemented in 108 cities, treating 98% of faecal sludge, with women's and transgender groups managing the plants.
