Thanks so much for making this video. As an AP at WDW for 13 years I have seen the fall of how Disney was and how it is now. This is so disgusting! I hope people sue Disney they deserve it.

Thank you very much for your comment it means a lot to me and the crew of AP Adventures, especially from a 13 year AP WDW pass holder. I will be doing a Part 2 to this video with current updates to the DAS program at least as it follows to Disneyland as far as WDW I would assume they would follow suit with Disneyland Anaheim.

I am part of a community of families with kids with autism. The worst part of the new rule is that you have to answer questions about the disability with the person in question present. So parents had to describe all of their kids’ behaviors in front of them. Kids were left completely shattered hearing how their tantrums, inability to stand in line, to tolerate crowds etc impacted the entire family. Families have decided to forgo going. Everyone said they’d have rather given a form to the pediatrician to complete than to subject their kids to it. I bought genie + and got the DAS.1 rules. Autism isn’t always visible until it is. They should have an option for a doctors’ note or a parent interview after seeing the kid.

I wanna thank you for watching my video, I didn't do this video for any profit or anything just to make awareness of what's going on in fact my channel isn't even monetized which I kind of enjoy so that way people see my content as genuine and not just a Blogger out to make a profit, I want to make a difference.

I have friends with kids on spectrum that they don't need accommodations and their parents would never abuse system. Where as others we know at my son's special school yeah you don't want to wait in a 15 min line with those kiddos. I think it should be a Dr decision.

It’s sad Disney has had to implement these measures. But I’ve not only seen people abuse the DAS but say out loud they have it because someone that is disabled gave the pass to them somehow. I’ve seen families brag that they have the pass while in line for a ride with nobody disabled.
So blame the people like this that abuse it to the max. I genuinely feel sorry for the people getting denied that have legit disabilities, but also get why Disney made it harder to get since it was so accessible/abused by people who aren’t disabled.

Also just want to point out that not every disability is visible. When I took my son, some older people questioned why we were in the DAS shuttle. I almost cried. If they only knew what it took to get him there that day, the worry about whether he’d be able to handle the shuttle, and how long he’d be able to stay the day, I’d hope they’d have more compassion. I certainly couldn’t explain in front of him about why we were there. I just said not every disability is visible.

    • @AP.Adventures72
      @AP.Adventures72  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I agree not every disability is visible and I understand your concerns 100% on this, and when I've talked to others about this to actually see that they've been in a sense treated in a harsh manner like this and told before they can even proceed with the interview that they have to agree not to hold them responsible legally for their decision is just unheard of and unfair seeing the fact that they're not even allowing to hear us out and make changes to the program to better it for those with disabilities. In a lot of ways I feel that there's some violation to the ADA on this whole matter. To me it just feels that this is all wrong about how they're going about this there's got to be a way to identify those with disabilities and those who are just lying about it because of those people who are lying about it and have put us in this situation I feel is a injustice to those with disabilities whether they're visible or not. I know when it comes to my situation before I go through the interview to only get denied I want to consult with an attorney first that specializes with disabilities which I'm hoping I can bring on to the show and maybe help others because I don't think that business is like Disney or universal for that matter should profit on one's disabilities.

This is why I like the system at Disneyland Paris as you need a proof of disability document and you have to apply for the pass beforehand and you pick it up on the day with some ID and they make a card for you that you can use to jump most of the line for each attraction.

Our Family would be more than happy to prove our Child’s disability with verification from our Child’s Specialist. What we do not want to do is to have to explain in front of our Child what their disability is and how it affects the Family.
There can absolutely be documentation from our Child’s Specialist verifying our Child’s disability that doesn’t violate HIPPA. We sign things all the time that our Child’s health information can be shared with another Doctor.

I agree. I also wish Disney would provide a necklace or pin for children with hidden disabilities to wear. Often when we are there the cast members may speak with to my child or give instructions that he does not fully understand. I find this to be the case particularly with security screening.

To have to explain our Child’s disability and what it cause the Family in front of them is mortifying. I cannot believe the bean counters are making Parents have to do this.
If someone wants to lie on their children or themselves in order to get DAS then that’s on them and karma has a way of coming their way.
Can Disney please change this new policy! It’s really just a terrible thing for Parents and Children to have to go through.

I really don't see how asking for proof of a disability is wrong. The only people against that would be people who can't get it, because they dont actually have a genuine disability. Universal was so easy to apply for from the uk. I just uploaded a print out from my doctor of my issues. I completely understand why badly autistic people are still being accepted but there are many other disabilities and Disney used to be a place we could go and enjoy a day where i could manage my pain and still have a good time. Now ill have to miss out on rides or pay out for the lightning passes.

I agree with you on how easy it is but the fact that they are denying those who have disabilities and trying to accommodate them in manners in which profits their pocket I feel is wrong to take advantage or at least financial advantage of those with disabilities as they are with the girl in my video.

My belief is that people with disabilities should be accommodated equally and there shouldn't be a cost to accommodate them.

The new DAS rules are absolutely discriminatory against certain disabilities and the way you have to explain yourself to someone who I believe is NOT a medical professional is humiliating and dehumanizing. If someone says they have a disability, whether highly visible or not, it should be given. I’m an AP holder and not happy with pretty much everything they’re doing. In Disney’s attempt to be “more inclusive” they’re discriminating against certain groups of people.

I am considered Total & Permanently Disabled by Social Security. I happen to collect SSDI due to being unable to work. Why don’t we have a disability passport, then; or why is federal program proof not accepted? What about Veteran’s with VA disabilities as well?
Children should be handled differently and much less stringently. Maybe require a doctor’s excuse if not obvious.
But DAS was never a skip the line. You waited outside the line, then still had to wait in a fast lane line in addition to the virtual time. It wasn’t always a walk on. This is my understanding as I have never been since being disabled.
