    Nathan, I'm so happy to have found your channel. I only came acroos Alteryx 2-3 weeks ago and I truly love how realtively easy it is to learn and start working with it. And watching your videos, hwere you use proper examples is very "inspirational" in how I could adapt yout style to my own workflows. Thank you very much once again for putting out these videos!

    Hello Tayler, your videos on Alteryx are very easy to grasp and the logic is on point. I wish you could have done more videos on the Alteryx Interface using a combination of all interface tools. I would wish to see the file tool in use. Thank you once again.

    Good stuff, Nathan. The "magnifying glass" on the inputs/outputs represents a "Q" for Question, vs. the lightning bolt for an Action.

    I really like your presentation style. I've learned so much. I would like to see how to add total rows below the data in the same column, like subtotals in Excel. Thank you for your teachings.

    Hi. I have this problem with my workflow. I use ODBC to download data from a database. My SQL query needs a list of numbers in WHERE clause line. I have a list of numbers as a result of previous step in the workflow (I have these from Filter tool). Is there a way to use this list to feed my SQL?

    Thanks Nathan this video really helped me though i am still stuck with building a list box for columns against my drop down..so that user can select rows vs columns from the dataset, this could be part 3 of ur video

    "All Departments" is listed in the output. What happens if you want the original department name to be populated in the output? So you want to select all departments or even a subset of departments?

    • @NPT
      @NPT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question John! To do that, treat the "Department Name" column as a filter by duplicating it and giving it a new column name like "Department Filter." Because you created it as a duplicate of the original column, you still have the "Department Name" column in your dataset. At the end of your workflow, drop in a SELECT tool and uncheck "Department Filter" so it is excluded from the output. Now you'll just have the original column (plus the other columns). I hope that answers your question.

    I"m new to Alteryx- have you done a video showing how to pass run time parameters (say beginning and ending dates) to a database query?

      Denny! You gave me a great question as a basis for a new video. See the answer here: th-cam.com/video/MuJNwWhSZHs/w-d-xo.html

    Nathan: I appreciate your clear explanations! I might’ve missed something though, because Alteryx shouldn’t need hand-typed SQL just to use a database table-the whole idea of its graphical user interface is to replace the command line interface! For example, I connect my Tableau Desktop to SQL Server, filter to North Dakota in the Data Source pane, and no other states’ info comes into Tableau. Then all the tables are ready to visualize. No special in-database tools are needed in Tableau, right? So how can we do the same in Alteryx to avoid custom coding?

    thanks Nathan, good to see there are some advanced videos for Alteryx, like how you used SQL server and interface tools. (Most other videos are only using flat excel files...) would be great if you can make more content for those interface tools, because visual steps are much more clear than text descriptions online : ). By the way, if this example you made needs to be used by different users, then is this App the thing that should be uploaded to gallery ? I suppose when this is saved, it is an App, not Macro

      Thanks for the kind comments. Yes, save the Alteryx file to the Alteryx Server Gallery as an App, not a Macro.
