Yeah basically take every settlement of hers except a minor one and keep her faction alive, even kill her other enemies to do so. I think even slower expansion is a price worth paying for this.
It's not that good you gain research via expansion anyways I always wipe her out rather than bother running different lord over every 10 turns on so to get a trait. And tomb kings are my favorite most played race.
I think their roster needs a little something to be a bit more tanky in melee lineholding. Hierotitans and tomb princes are the best solution for now. Tomb Guard are good but I think they need a higher tier infantry than that. Their infantry is quite tightly knit, slow and doesn't have great leadership and that's a combo that makes them vulnerable to magic, explosive missiles and crumbling. Until then I recommend focusing on Birona's Timewarp and trying to get anything else boosting speed and melee attack to end fights sooner. Until you have that you basically have to use the numbers you have and rely on debuffing enemy leadership. The great thing about Arkhan is he is friends with Mannfred so you could use that to get your hands on Necromancers. Invocation of Nehek will definitely be a massive aid in battle. Tomb Kings are undead so it should work.
did a settra campaign 2 weeks ago. i had a lot of fun and did not have a lot of problems. their mechanics make up for army count problems. also i gave away a lot of conqered territory that was uninhabitle anyway gaining military alliances and vassals in doing so. this helps a lot as your lands expand ( u wont have enough armies to keep it safe otherwise. ) i really enjoyed tomb kings.
Campaign is basically a one battle hit or miss. You either defeat Repanse or you`re done. You have 2 armies, Crypt Ghoules and mobility. After that, it`s won.
What are you think about research tree? I think it is garbage for every race. Just some shitty minor number bonuses. I think they can give something more meaningful
Honestly, I'd rather play Settra and then make Arkhan join me. Why? Because if you leave Settra in the hands of the AI 9/10 campaigns he gets double-penetrated by Drakenhof and Skarbrand and taken out early, lol.
I think the odds are much lower than that. In the last 3 campaigns I did, Settra absolutely dominated the south lands and was consistently like top 4 faction strength

Pro tip: farm Repanse for her trait that gives research rate (even better with Ikit Claw and Thorgrin). Very important for TK

Tomb kings armies count should not be tied to research and should be tied to buildings and ammount of territory
Delaying armies is never worth it for tomb kings more armies= faster expansion.

Having an extra army of crap troops doesn't help. I had skarbrand destroy two of my armies and a weak garrison with a 15 stack.
Don't start a fight with Skarbrand unless you got higher tier stuff. Ushabti smash him.
