I really like watching the van transform. You're doing a great job of making a uncool van look like a cool as van. I would love to get a van and do the same . But i have got 4 reasons why. The wife, skills to do the job,a place to do the work, and time. Watching you do it looks easier than I thought maybe? . I would have like to see you repair the drivers seat foam as mine as done the same. But not ripped the seat cover though. Looking forward the the next post.👍👍🤙

Hope i get as many watching my video like you!😊👍. Nice one. Its coincidental that. Combe valley campers have done the same video also but with cleaning the seat covers.

I think that you’ve hit a great subject matter (VW Vans). You present it well. The music isn’t my cup of tea its a bit B is for Build style.
Covid has put the price of vans at a record high and with so many being sold recently people are turning to self builds and want to know every little tip and trick they can find. You will never please everyone with what you choose to do but its your money your van. Looking forward to seeing what you do in the future.

    • @DanChambersDAC

Thank you so much for watching and for the comment. Yeah I am just putting in the sort of music I like to listen to. The most difficult part of editing a video is finding decent music. I am subscribed to Epidemic but still spend our trawling for each video.

I binned the double seat in my T5 and wanted a single passenger captain seat. Now these run to like £300 each cheapest. SO.......I bought ANOTHER complete drivers seat for £60 with the base. Cut off the handbrake fitting and changed to over to L/H fitting job done!
Now my drivers bolster foam is all gone and as you say its STUPID money for a piece of premade foam. SO DAN go to an unholstery or foam supplier buy a spall piece. Take off the seat cover and cut a piece of foam AS A PATCH REPAIR. Bond it in with Evo stik and Bobs your uncle! Neatly cut to shape with a bread knife or hack saw blade! Refit your cover. Thats how I did mine now good as new GREAT CHANNEL. I keep meaning to start videoing my camper build but Im too busy to do all the filming/editing/ jazzy music etc so..............I dont. BUT I have hundreds of still photos of the complet project from when I got the old girl!

Have an idea for the seats... roll or fold the arm rest cover that you aren't using and try to position it in place to cover the gap in the foam. I know it's a bit of a hack but at the end of the day, it's under the cover and is there to be sat on!

Nice to watch the videos and inspiring content .👍

If you decide you want to do something to help the bolster of the drivers seat foam, before committing to buying new foam (available from TPS / vw). If you remove the oe cover, take the squab out as you did without removing plastics, pry the metal tangs away from the plastic bead, and then push on the foam and pull the cover up and over the metal base. With the foam booster exposed, glue it back together with contact adhesive (same as used for carpet lining), and then use a piece of old t-shirt and wrap the booster to help it get more structure.

Hey Dan, I’m loving the channel. Seriously want a van now! Regarding the seat foam, it looks a bit similar to a MK4 Golf seat (might need some fettling). Sure you could get one from a breakers for very little. If you got one off the passenger side then the bolster is likely to be better condition too.
Keep up the good work 👍

I know it's been two long years but.. how the heck did you manage to get those plastic trim bits of the seatbase? The adjuster for the lumbarsupport and the backrest thingthing..? I've sourced a second captainseat for my very own/first t5 and i am going to trim them with some nice suede but i can't get the those adjusterknobs off... If you read this, even if you can't remember. thanks alot for all of your videos, they are amazing.

Take the seat cover back off and glue an ordinary car washing sponge (you can get quite dense ones that work well) to the hole in the seat and then trim to the right shape. 👍

Filming of seats was to far away, could have been a bit closer, should have sorted seat out properly.

Thank you so much for watching and for the comment, I wanted to get it all in frame, Was never supposed to be a how to video as Transporter HQ have one on their TH-cam. As mentioned in the video, most of the budget is going on the mechanical side of the van. Seat form bolster doesn't effect how the van runs and drives.

Thank you for your supportive comment. They look a hell of a lot better than stained and worn standard seats though.
