  • I raced Stage 3: Mickle Yin twice3 - Tuesday and Thursday.
I kept the same frame and only changed the wheels. In the first race, I used the Roval Alpinist CLX and the second race, I used the Enve SES 7.8. The rides are synced up to see how far ahead or behind I was.
Welcome to the February ZRacing Monthly Series!
This month we’ll tackle four brand new Scotland routes that have been built for racing. Stages 1, 2, and 4 will also be used during the historic ‘Battle Royale’ 2023 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships on Feb 18! For more info about the pro races and where to watch, head to www.zwift.com/uci-world-champs
Stage 3 kicks off with a new course the "Muckle Yin" which is Scottish for “Big One” and is the longest route in Scotland, taking us around the Highlands loop, over the Sgurr in both directions, and onto the streets of Glasgow.

@zwiftyzwifter I think for this route a gravel bike is definitely worth a shot. Especially if you have a group you can use in the lead into the climb.

How you feel on the day makes a huge difference.

Yeah and the group, frustratingly hard to make comparisons for racers. The ‘leaderboard’ feature in companion app are pretty much meaningless other than seeing progression through grades

I'll give this a go later on.

Perhaps on the 23rd you had some competition and there was a little peer group pressure 😂

@@OnTheRivet I’d join you again however we have guests.
I forgot to mention, I’m similar age. Max HR in a ZRL race was 187. Typical average in a race of 160.

Side by side was a great format. You’ll defeat that climb next time! My 2 cents on the speed difference is the pack on the 21st was bigger, so more drafting and pack speed.

Nice idea and thanks for the shoutout!
I LOVE over-analysing! I think in general if there’s a decision between aero and light, aero is almost always the right choice. I realise that that probably seems easy for me to say, but the analysis backs this up. If anyone would benefit from lightweight wheels, it’s lightweight riders. But really, I’ve got to be pushed pretty hard to get me off those disc wheels, they’re soooo fast. I’d bet they’re faster up the paved side than the lightweight wheels.
Next week I’m going to try the gravel bike first at least.
When I used to run quite a bit in my mid 30s, my HR max was 171, now it’s precisely the same! Weird and oddly low, occasionally encourages people to think I’m cheating, especially as I’m sat on the back chilling on my full aero set-up!
