"But this is not a mass for the dead!" That's been in the chant since the first time he summoned Requiem. Makes you wonder if they had the disappearance of the Velgaerans planned since the beginning. If they wrote that line with this very scene in mind.
If there's one thing Studio Bridge is infamous for at this point, it's the sheer amount of foreshadowing they stuff into everything. I could completely believe they planned this from the beginning.
Zwijo isn't just the kind of person who'd say that he would win even if it killed him. Zwijo's the type of person who _would_ win _knowing_ it would kill him.

@@LordVanOskuroZwijo may not have considered them friends in the _traditional_ sense, but by this point, after he's had a bit of character development...he cared for them, in his own Zwijo-esque way. He respected them. Appreciated them at times, even. I'd call it two-way.
@@LordVanOskuro I don't know if they were one-sided. Zwijo has a lot of trust and respect in Dinois, and a large part of his time in the Kuaidul Space-time in episode 82 was about Zwijo's regrets that he didn't put more effort into fixing and maintaining his relationships with Mitsuko and Kawai Tell. He clearly values Mitsuko as a companion to some degree, and I think it is sweet that she was there for him at the end.
For so long, Zwijo saw dueling as a tool, a means to an end. He used Rush Duels in the exact opposite way Yuga would have wanted. This was different. Here, in this moment, for the first time in his entire life, Zwijo Rush Dueled for the sake of _fun,_ for the sake of enjoyment. Even if a method to revive him is found...Zwijo wouldn't want it. He despised the fact that he was immortal, and felt liberated when he found out that his lifespan was now finite. He went out exactly the way he wanted to, and felt that his death had meaning. It would almost be disrespectful to revive him.
Damn, I haven’t watched a yugioh show since arc v and I didn’t even finish it, honestly didn’t know what to expect when I clicked this video but I am really tempted to watch yugioh again no
I actually think it fits, the chant says it itself, this isn’t a mass for the dead, it’s a requiem. Sure it can be sad, but he’s pushing through smiling all the while landing his final strike. It’s fitting that the music for something like that is a bit happy. Because it’s a happy moment for him despite what’s happening to him
Yes. Yes, you should. I won't say it's perfect, or that there aren't a few episodes I don't like, but that can be said for any show, and I will say it has a lot of things to appreciate, especially once you get into the end of Season One and beyond.
@@ZephyrBW Season One could best be described as "setup", it lays the foundation for what happens next. It has some very interesting moments of its own, however. @quangnhat5351 Zwijo: *tragically perishing but managing to complete his final turn and winning the duel thanks to the support of those he calls his friends* Song: DIRI DON PA!! DIRI DON PA!! HEY, YEAH YEAH!! like im sorry but even considering the other lyrics that doesn't really change that they played a cheerful catchy and upbeat song over a main character's death, even if it was with his comrades at his side.
It seems like a good choice, in a way. This may be sad for everybody else, but not Zwijo, this is the happiest he's been in a good while. He despised being immortal, so when he found out the Velgearians were finally dying what seemed to be a permanent death, he embraced it, and instead sought out what felt like a meaningful end. He went out exactly the way he wanted to.
@quangnhat5351 I had an entire several paragraph long comment breaking down my opinions, but given how I have accidentally deleted it, I will simply say: Yup.
And in the end of the series they will bring everybody back,so technicaly his death means dogshit. And this series Use the opening Song a lil to much for this moments, you technicaly use the opening in a duel at the very end of the series.
Death of the whole secondary cast in GX mattered a lot even after they were brought back, due to the trauma it caused the protagonist, so let's not say things like that before we confirm it. Plus a character being brought back does not ruin the tragic circumstances of their death, like with the whole Zexal cast.
Don't be so negative, this series has surpassed expectations enough to be given the benefit of the doubt. Regardless of the outcome, they won't just make everything so far worthless. People have been assuming they're smarter than the writers since Sevens, only to be bamboozled time and time again. Most people expected the Velgearians to be revived by the end of Season 2 and invalidate this entire arc, only for the show to pull the rug out from everyone calling it predictable. And as people said, revived or not, it doesn't mean that their deaths will lack consequence.

@@SevensDranLet's not put words into someone's mouth. And even the things he didn't write he signed off on. On the other hand saying this absolutely devastating scene isn't worthy of being called Yu-Gi-Oh somehow is absolute insanity. While Go Rush is usually more nonsensical and comedic than even Sevens was before it, this here is so dark that only the genocide of Bakura's tribe even compares from the original manga. To me dying with a smile on your face is darker than setting a criminal on fire or being forced to fist fight a serial killer (who was also set on fire).
