As family of the loved who’s headstones were unveiled on the day I can say we were taken back to tears as Badu Island Dancers opened the celebrations. Our Mara family moved many years ago from the Village of Yallawar & Ghost Town on Badu Island to Injinoo then Umagico, Cape York and settled. To see a piece of our birth rite heritage dance and celebrate with us was a moment and feeling we will never forget. Love and respect, Mara, Mairu & Neliman Family
No. It's an unveiling of the tombstones. There's a whole ceremony that involves the In-Laws taking part in getting the gravesite ready for the families to arrive, plus getting food ready plus direct families & extended families dancing. It's a part of our grieving process. It's too extended to explain. This video is but one aspect of the whole ceremony.
