Do you why it is possible in China? There are no people throwing stones or shooting at the drone. There are no people smashing on the drone dropping hub. There are no people making the hub dirty or dangerous. People in China respect the laws, the rules and the environment. There is no friction in deploying a new technology in China. That is why it is cost effective and possible for technological advancement in China.
So true and I am thinking same about Autonomous Driverless cars. In a situation where you have 5 thugs standing on a road blocking the way, will the driverless car recognize these people are thugs. In a normal car, the driver has a possibility to force its way and hurt these thugs. So with driverless car, there will be many attacks and thefts on car passengers. The thugs have only to stand on the way, the car will stop one meter close to them. Passengers pulled out, beaten, stolen. So autonomous cars are problematic in countries like US wheras in China it's very suitable

As I understood, the aim is to make the work of the delivery personnel more efficient. Instead of driving the order from the store to the consumer, the delivery worker drives it from the store to the drone center. Then, the drone flees the order to the consumer. I've a question. What if there is downpouring rain and the hatch of the kiosk is opened, wouldn't the compartment be flooded inside ? And the cardboard box, I assume it will be returned to the restaurant for next delivery, so the next trip is a wasted journey because the cardboard box will be empty. To maximise 100% utility, every trip that the drone makes should have a gross weight.
Do you think the Chinese are dumb as you. Do you know above the kiosk there is an automotive cover. It opens only when the drone comes into a distance nearby the cover and it automatically opens. Once the drone has dropped the box of foods in the kiosk and leaves, the kiosk cover automatically closes by itself.
If you are in the United States, you may never wait for your meal because the drone and your meal will be intercepted on the way to delivery. We Chinese call it "buying for $0"
Don't you want to find out how the food is loaded into the drone? You won't eat the food if you find out...lol They need to manually load it and very often, the original package of the food (the shop is not just handling drone orders) can't fit in the box tailor made for the drone. So they need to use hands (for speed) to move food to a right size box.
