the flag,is out of comunist emblem.that is from 1989.

About the flag: during the revolution they cut the communist symbol (emblem) from the Romanian flag as a way of showing that they don't want to be a communist country anymore. So the Romanian flag with a hole in it is the symbol of the revolution.

@@HaleyandZach Romania experienced bad times between 1945-1989 ,when USSR occupied Eastern Europe (Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Albania and Bulgaria making them as "satellites' of USSR ,celebre "Iron Curtain" ,we were a "buffer zone" between USSR and Western Europe) ,so after 1990 Romania AS COUNTRY GOING fast forward to UE and NATO ,especially all starting with 1997 (candidature of Romania to E.U.) after 10 years ,and doing reforms and all kind of conditions imposed by E.U. , Romania was accepted as member EU in *1 January 2007* , in NATO entered earlier ,in 2004.
Russia now attacked Ukraine in 2014 (first) now in 2022 is the second phase of their war...why? because they see Ukraine as a "shield" between them and NATO countries , and they don't wanted Ukraine to become a EU and NATO member...imagine now in 2022 if Romania wasn't member EU or NATO ...

On our last trip to Europe, we found ourselves wishing we'd spent more time in the smaller places. The bigger cities seems to blend together after awhile.

This is my city! Have a nice trip.
Ps: the photo from first monument was the hero’s fall in revolution.

You were right about being able to visit that place where the military base is …. You just went to the wrong side …. On that patch of land next to the base there is something called Strandul Neptun many many restaurants, bars, swimming pools and water slides, paintball, amusement park and many more things to do

Si apropo, județul Arad face parte din regiunea Crișana, nu Transilvania, suntem vecini cu regiunile Banat si Ardeal

in 1848 all nations living in teritories claimed by hungarians were in danger of being asimilated by hungarians, so they raised against the so called revolution, wich was a shovinist hungarian mascarade full of hate and violence, that planed to erase their ethnic identities ( romanians, croatians, serbs, slovaks, ruthenians, all sacrificed their lives to stand in the way of their hungarian agressor). The statue still standing is the prove of romanian tolerance to every thnic group, though it celebrates a hoard of hungarians that masacred a lot of non hungarians, many of them romanians.

It is wrong to call Arad a small town! Because Arad, with approximately 170,000 inhabitants, is considered a large city and ranked 13th in the country! Because the big cities here are between 100,000 and 400,000! A small town here has between 20,000 and 50,000 inhabitants!! Of course, if you come from a capital of several million inhabitants, any city seems small to you...

Statue of Hungarian Liberty was inaugurated in 1890 for memory of 13 hungarian officer executed in the City of Arad after hungarian revolution was defeated in 1849 by the Habsburg and russian army. th-cam.com/video/It0Tp_-twaM/w-d-xo.html After romanian occupation in 1919 the statue was demolished. Was rebuilt only in 2004 with the romanian triumphal arch. After that the statue was many time vandalised by the romanian extremist. th-cam.com/video/f4qgdyafccU/w-d-xo.html
