Something like this may have happened to British computing in the 1940s and 50s. We were told for years that Churchill had ordered the electro-mechanical device (Colossus?) used to help decrypt German signals to be destroyed after the war, but it turns out that it was moved to the precursor of GCHQ and there were several generations of successors to it, which remain secret. Later the government decided that computer science should be concentrated in the University of Manchester.

    Freeman Dyson, brilliant, as always.

It would be very helpful if you could include the date (or even just the year) on which each interview took place. This one seems to have been taped somewhere around 1993 according to my crude guesstimate.
History requires dating -- not just of the events recounted, but also of the documents.

It was done in 1998. (The information is included in some of the earlier videos.)

So, it would be better not to publish this than to publish it without a date? It sounds as though your thinking is headed that way. How about just being grateful.

3:34 He was onto something with unified field theory from a mathematical perspective... He recognized it too.

The military might have given just one of that bunch of billions to the Science.

Seems like he figured that out a bit late after doing a lifetime of work for the military.

Hmm atmosphere-quantum same mathematical modelling - that is rather pregnant is it not…? - sensing the ‘grand central exchange’ of Avogadro’s constant in this…(Fuller)….perhaps same goes for military-astronomer think….!
