Hi Riley, great to see you on here! Unfortunately Bill resigned from CP in 2009 and went back to AMTRAK in his home state of California. I remember years ago when we had you up in the cab. Great memories!
That would be Bob Kittel, CMO for the San Bernardino Railway Historical Society, owner/caretaker of the 3751. It was too warm in California last October so he went to Canada to cool off.
Oct. 9, 2009, running from Lethbridge to Calgary, AB. Check out my other posting "I Guess That's What it Does" shot (on my camera) by buddy while we were climbing over Crowsnest Pass between Fernie, B.C. & Lethbridge, AB.
@fabio40 Yes I'm sure. That's JJ "Lucky Man" Morris at the throttle in my video. Bill has run the 3751 several times for Amtrak when it's gone out on mainline excursions,
Jonathan - don't be shy with that whistle man! I like the clacker operated one better than the pull cord - a screaming banshee at speed!Sure beats running a yard engine in Windsor or London does it not?
Sorry, you may have have missed that train - literally. CPR put 2816 to bed last fall with no plan to operate in 2009 & an uncertain future beyond that.
I like the pull-cord whistle ten times better than the air-actuated one. Great video! Thanks for putting this up!
deloreanman14 I agree. This makes her sound like the “Empress” a lot and what she is meant to do.
He was really 'picking them up and laying them down'. Fabulous video. Used to see the Hudsons daily when I was day operator at Kamloops Leebm29
Nice to see some one I know in the good seat.. Good work Jon!
JJ certainly is, as they say, the "Lucky Man."
What a true lucky man.
That whistle is soo sick
Why is Bill Stettler not running 2816 anymore

Bill Stetler works as a locomotive engineer for Amtrak in Southern California now. I briefly worked with him on the SP 4449 crew.
What kind of whistle is that on the front part of the locomotive

It's the reverser. Some eastern roads had something similar.

SDNR199 which 3 chime is that?

A lucky man indeed
Nope Just for me myself and I. Do you have and more video? Have you seen mine from when i was in the cab of 425?
Jonathan - don't be shy with that whistle man!

It most certainly did Dave! Hope all is well. I’m only 11 years late in responding lol
Very nice video and very lucky. Do you work for the CP?
No, I just know high people in places. Do you work for COASTER?
Ah, the days before everyone had to wear a lime green "high viz" vest, and could look like a real railroader!
Becase he's Bob Kittel and he's cool.
Always wondered why 2816 wore two whistles
