Thanks for the suggestions, I’m Colombian but I grew up abroad all my life since I was born therefore I’ve never experienced life there. I definitely want to move there one day, especially to reconnect more with my family so thanks for the suggestions. As I too also have a perspective as a foreigner.
The Americans that think that they are taking a risk by moving to these places, usually still have their parents where they can go back for a couple of months, if things don’t work out as planned. They are happy because they’re feeling special where they are. Something they didn’t feel back home, where they are usually lowlifes without sufficient income, without a girlfriend, etc. So, they’re going to these places to ignore their problems for a while without solving anything. Their local relationships with girls don’t generally last long as women are looking for men with potential. Not someone living on their savings.
As a Colombian I welcome you full heartedly. You are young, enjoy as much as you can, travel and see this country which is considered by many as one the most beautiful and bio diverse. Good judgment (sentido común) should sufice to keep you out of harms's way. Welcome again!

Hi Jake, congratulations! I am planning on doing the same thing. I have a question, what are you going to do after your 6 month visitor visa expires??
Not sure yet, there are a few visa options to stay longer, or I may just relocate to another part of Latin America for 6 months before returning.
