Though it looks like abuse when momma monkeys bite and pull and get angry, it's completely normal in a monkey troop. It's called discipline. It may not seem like it from these videos, but these guys live an extremely dangerous life. Momma has to teach them what is acceptable behavior and what will get him killed by an alpha. I always come back at least once a year to watch Stormy's story. It's so life-affirming, and illustrates just how the environment, the troop, the mother, etc shape the lives of these animals. I think of if Stormy and Stella had (God forbid) been part of an Angkor Wat troop, and the what the differences in both Stella and Stormy would have been like. The little one lived his life to the fullest, and I honestly think he had a "happy" one, so much so due to Stella. I put happy in quotes because I really try not to anthropomorphize these animals. It's a habit of others who haven't done the research that I think is sometimes needed to have a clear idea of the differences between these primates and humans, even with shared DNA. I always cringe when I see someone write about how "happy" a baby monkey is (and what a "loving mother" some "woman" is) when he is ferociously gulping down as much milk as he can as fast as he can because it's the one meal he gets a day. And I certainly appreciate how completely emotional these animals are, especially as babies. But - of I were to step away from all that and assign a label to Stormy just from sitting here and watching how ALIVE he truly was - then yeah, I'd say that the little man was happy. The happiest he could have possibly been under the circumstances. In some ways, he reminds me of Nina, the monkey with no hands. She is another one with a mother who seems to understand that her daughter is different from the others, and both her mother and sister are amazing with her. Different situation, completely different environments, but both inspirational.

@Maria Bagie What makes you so sure that he's suffering? Not once did he wince or cry or give up on something he was having trouble with. Personally, I'd probably be suffering mentally, i.e. depressed AF. But he acts completely untroubled. In fact he's more energetic than I am on a GOOD day, and he seems to be having a blast, even on the ground, where after having come down from the trees, he starts blasting around at what would be high speed for just about anyone. And with all the positive comments from everybody, its just a reminder that these Macaque are not as stupid & senseless as some Monkey Haters wood have you to believe. They are sensitive, on their time, not ours. Long Live the Macaque! ❤
He seems to be moving his legs and the paralysis is from the knee down. Has it always been like that or is there some miracle that's happening and he's getting usage back little by little? His upper body strength already exceeds other monkeys the same age
@David Caira JW put up a vid titled "Previous story: What happened to the paralyzed baby?", in which he went back and sought out the earliest footage of Stormy that he could find. IIRC, when it first became evident that there was a problem, Stormy was still an infant. I think JW said the wounds were about a week old, and I don't think the baby was much older than that. I believed I was seeing the same thing then as now, that he did have SOME strength and the ability to will it but only above the knees. Direct comparison is difficult because he was far less mobile and far less energetic then. (Which may be coincidence with no particular meaning, as he was SO young then that this was likely more a matter of extreme youth than of injury.) Btw the vid I mentioned above is totally worth watching, even after having seen some of these in which he's older.
How did stormy take turn for worse, he overcome his disability, just to get a horror of infection. How did this happen, he was so strong one min & then was so weak. Thank you JW for showing the love of the mother!
@Nate Collier Yeah, love how you've contacted these people and offered to help with the vet bills along with whatever it costs them every day to feed all these animals; instead, you just follow them from halfway across the globe and try to publicly shame people of whose lives and circumstances you know nothing beyond what you think of as a moral and ethical character far inferior to your own. Idk about you but every time I visit the vet I leave in a state of shock and horror. I'd like to see some sort of a happy medium; I would not expect a vet to donate the time, plus the cost of meds, plus the use of expensive equipment like x-ray machines, etc, etc. What do YOU expect? That they'll do all this for free, at their own expense? Or do you think JW should cover that, too? FWIW quite a lot of vets here in the states DO donate a certain amount of their time, usually through working with an area shelter. I don't know about those in China. But I'd be surprised if it were not fairly common there as well. And that's at least partly because with all these animals around, various ordinary but caring citizens are likely to be bringing animals to them that they've found in the street and are just assuming that naturally, the vet will be glad to take them in for free. But just think of just how many animals there are in that area that could benefit from some serous medical care. The resources do not exist to care for them all. Priorities have to be set and ordered. How many other monkeys would you NOT provide such care for, in order to provide it to this One? Anyway. Your virtue signaling has backfired, and revealed your tendencies to be thoughtless, pompous, judgmental, nasty and ignorant - and not necessarily in that order. You've also managed to miss the really obvious fact that these people clearly really do care for and about these animals, and are doing a lot more than just following them around with a camera. At a minimum, they're providing thousands, sometimes tens or hundreds of thousands, of people with hours and hours of entertainment which is also educational, thought-provoking, and awareness-raising, and all for free. And that awareness-raising is really important for the well-being of the animals. I know that there are a lot of con artists running scams. But I'm also certain that legitimate rescue and relief efforts are getting donations that they wouldn't otherwise. The same for poaching and kidnapping and the "exotic pet" trade - even getting good laws passed, let alone enforcing them, has to start with promoting awareness. These people are doing good - both for us and for the animals. How about next time you try thinking before mouthing off.
@@guitarjunkie2065 Also there are organizations that handle these type of situations if you contact them. there are 100s of them over there but once again you are just ignorant to it all. How about you do a little research next time before commenting on something and making an ass out of yourself
Stormy is using both legs to wrap around the branches and can draw both knees up at will. He uses his legs best when he isn't thinking about it. He may need to break long standing habits... depending on mom.
I was so happy to see this video JW. It’s been a crazy busy day. It was wonderful to finally be able to sit and relax, made all that much better to find your video. Thank you JW.
This little guy has a tough road ahead, but he seems to just get out there and do what he has to do‼️stormy is the cutest , sure hope life will cut him some slack in the future 😊
I think the best thing that could happen to this baby is if they could find a sanctuary someplace or someone to adopt it. I know that isn't natural, but nature isn't known for its kindness to disabled animals.
The injury on the baby's tail might be owing to the baby's impaired mobility in its lower half. I noticed that that the baby's lower half scrapes against the ground and the trees when the mother travels with the baby attached beneath her.
I believe in JW decisions about Stormy and and others. He is very knowledgeable educated person and the best human I know.. I believe that colonials (silver) stop infections, so is worth to try. O habitat natural o fez ser igual, perfeito a todos os seus e ter uma vida normal.
Cada 🐵 no seu galho msm. Não devemos interferir na natureza e seus habitantes.
What an amazing little monkey.
Stuart has my vote for the best big brother award
I am so proud of them both.. 💖Mom💖 does an excellent job of making sure he’s safe..
Stormy is an amazing little monkey - he is very good in climbing and running...he is full of energy
I know it’s been a while since these videos were made but I’ve enjoyed watching them. Thank you so much for making them. And, I love the commentary.
I wonder how aware his mom is of Stormy’s disability? He doesn’t seem to know it! It’s amazing how self-sufficient he’s becoming. Go, Stormy!
Stormy will have great upper body strength. I am praying he gets back the use of his hind legs. Such a cutie he is.
This is a day of Thanksgiving in America! Thankful for you!
He has gained alot of upper. Body strength and canhold his body so he isnt just dragging his legs
Mesmo com defeito tem muita energia
(Which may be coincidence with no particular meaning, as he was SO young then that this was likely more a matter of extreme youth than of injury.)
Btw the vid I mentioned above is totally worth watching, even after having seen some of these in which he's older.
PS At least a couple of the comments under that video mentioned this too. So while I still could be wrong, it's not just me ;-)
How did stormy take turn for worse, he overcome his disability, just to get a horror of infection. How did this happen, he was so strong one min & then was so weak.
Thank you JW for showing the love of the mother!
Many compliment these momma's as being "caring" But they sure wont share food -even with their own kid
yeah love how you tried to get the little fella help instead you just followed him around with a camera
@Nate Collier
Yeah, love how you've contacted these people and offered to help with the vet bills along with whatever it costs them every day to feed all these animals; instead, you just follow them from halfway across the globe and try to publicly shame people of whose lives and circumstances you know nothing beyond what you think of as a moral and ethical character far inferior to your own.
Well done baby Stormy. 🙏👏👏👏💕🍉🍌🍼💖
Stormy is such a sweet monkey, tiny little round happy face...
Fantastic
He does pretty good considering. Mom needs some medical attention as well! That huge lump at the bottom of her tummy is definitely not normal
God Bless this Mama Monkey and Stormy Monkey 🐵🐒🍌💝
And his independence is growing day to day 👏👏👏
I wish someone would have intervene with this little guy and helped him out
Que criatura tan adorable🐒🥰🥰🥰🥰 y como lo protegen🐵🐵🐵🐵💓
Wow! His exercises reminds me footage from training camp in UK during ww2 💪
Qué ha pasado con Storny actualmente. Gracias 🐒🤝🏻
He will make a nice little dessert for a large male one day!!
Thank God for climbing! He was was absolutely free of his handicap!!🤗🙉👍🙉😍
Как много калек, их совсем-совсем похоже не лечат, вот этому малышу, всё , ппц, так и будет обезножен.
Опомнитесь, кто их будет лечить!
He's cute as he can be he's a very determined little fella I hope that he makes it.
GOD BLESS THIS LITTLE GUY
Stormy is snake 🐍 food 💀💀💀
This little guy has a tough road ahead, but he seems to just get out there and do what he has to do‼️stormy is the cutest , sure hope life will cut him some slack in the future 😊
No, he died 2 months later
I think the best thing that could happen to this baby is if they could find a sanctuary someplace or someone to adopt it. I know that isn't natural, but nature isn't known for its kindness to disabled animals.
Nice to see Stormy has friends.
Бедненький инвалид, ему хочется уже другую пищу, хорошо что мать пока кормит молоком.
I am officially addicted to Stormy!
He appears to have some control of his hips, which allows him to draw his knees up..he's gaining strength all the time, bless him.
Hey JW and also to my dearest friend icki. Thank you for posting will leave a comment after video.
Hey dear buddy. Fancy meeting you here at this time ⏲ 😀
А я подумала, что заберут малыша и помогут...
Оно им надо?
So glad they watch over Stormy he is such a cutie 💓💗 precious 💖lil 🐒💙💚
The injury on the baby's tail might be owing to the baby's impaired mobility in its lower half. I noticed that that the baby's lower half scrapes against the ground and the trees when the mother travels with the baby attached beneath her.
If this was filmed just hours ago, obvious Stormy hasn’t grown much. First video of him was in June so he’d be over 6 mo old.
Uh, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm pretty sure he was dead by the time you wrote this.
I believe in JW decisions about Stormy and and others. He is very knowledgeable educated person and the best human I know.. I believe that colonials (silver) stop infections, so is worth to try. Did for me, Previous all I wrote was deleted so "write your own song " is possible., Thank you JW for your enormous work you giving everyone ,Thank You everywhere and for everything!
He’s such a adorable little monkey I was so upset when he passed away 😢😢😢😢😢😢💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
He will have amazing upper body strength. If he ever gets the use of her s legs, he will win any fight with a male. Hopefully life works out for him. Nature is amazing
I cringed when I saw the wound on his tail 😖 they should stay up in the trees more often to avoid dragging his feet and tail. He's such a brave boy, he should survive 💪🙏🐒
I watch your videos on my big tv so i don't get to comment too often. I just want to let you know being a shut in disabled how much your videos mean to me and their joy, peace and curiosity satisfied. You are a real blessing to me and many more im sure. Best monkey vids on the tube!
I’m sorry to see Stormy’s wounds not looking so good. I wish he could always be on Mum’s back and not her underside. Thanks JW❣️
Hi there lyric.
@@ickiedeer-lamb7282 Hey there, so sorry to hear about your hard day. Take care❣️
@@lyric8006 thanks my dear. I didn't say anything in arroz tonight as someone else had a loss and a robbery as bad as it is in a nursing home doesn't compare to that of losing a loved one. 💔
@@ickiedeer-lamb7282 You are entitled to safety & protection and it's devastating to lose that. 😔
@@lyric8006 thanks lyric. I appreciate that. Tomorrow I'll be dealing with it. Even if I need to call police and newspaper.
Stormy is monkey full of tenacity.
If this little guys wound's don't heal he's not going to make it, he needs human help like right now, but he's got spirit and he is strong, hang in sweet baby❣️
Lind yes he does but they make more money with him being like this these people are pathetic ..they can help little stormy they do not want to ..these monkeys make money for them to survive and they don't care about them never have
@@angeladeveaux2108 😭😭
Thank you for sharing Lil stormy journey, it really touches my heart. I just wished that he could have made it! He has been an inspiration to me and so many others.💖 Good job!!!
It is sad, but so affirming. He lives such an amazing little life, and had an attitude that many of us could learn from - don't let anything hold you back, no matter the things in your way. Amazing lesson from a special little animal.
I wish stormy would learn to climb on Stella's back, it would help with the abrasions
He finally does get on Stella’s back at 8.49!! It’s the first time that I have noticed him on her back. It will help him greatly if Stella lets him ride there often.
