So I’ve been using this bait since its release. The yamatanuki in all sizes absolutely slays. The cupped face and that tail give a crazy action that you won’t get elsewhere. Imo I believe the best place to fish this lure is rip rap rock because everytime the bait hits a rock the tail jiggles in the back driving the bass crazy I highly recommend getting these lures if you want a fun day of fishing
I rig the small yamatanuki on Zappu ringed piledriver 1/0 and have great success and hookup ratio.Decoy versatile keeper helps to set it on the perfect position Thanks for sharing.
I like using the mustad 91768 30degree jig hook in the 1/0 size with a large owner screwlock for the 2.5 size .the large owner screwlock helps hold the bait better with less tearouts plus the gap is big enough that when the hookslot gets worn out i just turn the bait halfway and rig straight thru . It positions hook as described in your video
I just got home from slaying smallmouth all day... I have a couple different sizes and colors of this lure, and can't wait to try the creator's tip... Thanks for sharing and glad I found your channel... I just subscribed, my friend... Regards
Are you just casting out, letting it sink to the bottom and just sit there? Seems like your reeling is in a small bit every 30 or 40 seconds. Are you lifting or perking or dragging it a bit?
I know in Japan it is harder to catch Bass. But in the US, we catch many and can not afford to lose one bait with every Bass. So with soft Yamamoto baits I use Owner 4/0 Twistlock hooks. Baits last much longer. Also on the Yamatanuki, I turn the hook one hundred eighty degrees and do not use the hook slots. The hook slots cause me more missed bass.
I love the Tanuki. Have had a lot of success with smallmouth in rivers, rigged with an owner ultra finess head. I wish they'd have made a 2.75" instead of the 2.5" though.
I forgot where I heard it but using a 5/0 ewg hook is really helpful, i been crushing bass on the green pumpkin/amber tanuki going weedless/weightless. Thanks for the video!
I would want to rig this bait the way I rig an Ika: come in through the top like usual, but skin-hook the point on the *outside of the body towards the back.
Thanks! That makes sense and shouldn’t negatively affect the action as the tail is still free to wiggle.. however,, with the hook eye buried in the bait and the line coming through the head it makes it easier for the line to cut through the head and lose the bait. Oh well, I’m not sure a bait would last more than a couple fish anyway.
If you have a lake you regularly fish, i recommend getting a seriously bright headlamp and spend a couple nights doing some investigation. If you find a good apot for bass to push shad or other baitfish up shallow where they can't escape to deep water easily, you're going to find some pigs coming in on the darkest nights, guaranteed. The light will help you find the baitfish and hopefully spot some bass.

Yup, it's a great lure!
Thank you! I've had a bag of these in my tackle backpack for a long time and just never really used it. Ill try now!
Good luck! 👍🍀

Another great video, I’ll try your rigging tip as I have been missing fish but just thought it was small fish, thank you!
Thanks! 👍

Thank you for your videos much love from California
👍
4/0 or 5/0 ?
1/0 or 2/0.
10lbs line and that hook size does not worry you? Let's say a fish over 4lbs.
I got your point. I'm confident I can catch over 5lbs with that setup here. Since I know the spot well and there aren't many covers in the water.
Subtitles are definitely not necessary. You have better English than many! Great video as per usual 🙂
Thank you! 😃
Awesome and thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks 👍

👍👍
Just caught PB on this bait yesterday! 5.2 in NH usa big for over here.
Congrats 👍
Point comes out same place. I fish it lost child rig with a nail weight in the head. Works really well that way.
👍
Definitely interested in that lure. Excellent video as always.
Thanks 👍
I had a few of them and used em up. The. Found one on the ground and was hooking up!
Great lure but you'll use a bag very quick

Yeah. It's true. More anglers than bass.
I love your videos. You are the best!
Wow, thank you!

I want 2". They introduced 4.25" instead...
I use a razor blade ! And cut the slit with hook point deeper ! Especially ahead of the hook point ! Bait folds easy ! Good hookups ! Peace buddy!!😮😮

Yup! Thanks for a tip 👍
I run a mustad infiltrator 4/0 and a large owner spring lock. Was able to get 5 bass on 1 tanuki. Tight lines 🎣
👍

Hey do you have to go down a size with the hook if you rig it the way youre showing
I don't think so.
I enjoy the editing thanks for the great tips 🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏
Glad you enjoyed! 👍
2.5 is a BFS killing machine!!! My confidence bait for now I’ve gotten my PB on that bait this year 4.5lb 👍
👍

Yes. That's what I had in the video! Could be an okay trade-off, though...
Try using owner monster screw lock hook
I tried a screw keeper but figured out I love a standard EWG.
Yamamoto created a baby from a reaper and a senko.
👍
I like using a screw lock style hook, go through less baits.
👍
Awesome!!
Thanks!
I like this guy. Down to earth type of person! Great fisherman.
Haha. Thank you 👍
thanks waki san
👍
After rigging it superglue the front of the bait, they tear up less
Use a large owner spring lock
@@tims_always_fishing7117 or buy ones that are not as soft

Maybe when the neighbors went into deep sleep.
🙏👊
👍
Any chance you will show underwater footage in future videos? Thank you!
Want to do but it's too much. When I retire maybe.
I got that z man rattle snaker. Bet a rattle in one of those would be good.
👍
Is this good for spotties?
Not yet tried but they love anything anyway. Let's try.
Do you ever use spinning rod set up, if you do….can you make videos
Any setup can go along with BFS is no problem with spinning.
@@AnglerWaki thank you
One day I will learn what sunglasses you are wearing
I really don't know what it is and why you want to know it.... A cheap one from BPS. The one I use for fishing is DAIWA, though...
@@AnglerWaki I like the style! Ok thank you!
