- Hello everybody! This is my interpretation of the Lukather's solo from the live version of Georgy Porgy, and its lesson. It should be quite accurate except for the fast run at the end. I couldn't really understand what Steve played because of the low audio quality of the videos from that concert I found on the Internet, so I tried to play something similar.

The studio version doesn't come close.
I agree, this version of the solo is much better than the one in the studio version:)!
I'm pretty sure Steve didn't have time to create a solo for the studio version, so he just did that up-and-down thing, and after a while they noticed how popular the song was, so he sat down and crafted this masterpiece for live performances.
It probably went this way, and after all this time I still find this solo pretty much perfect, t's very hard to beat:)

One of my favorite guitar solos of all time. Luke was just from another galaxy on this track...I mean, he's ALWAYS 14 levels above, but this solo was pretty much at the 16th or 17th level! Great job capturing it!

What did you use to get that tone? It sounds super tasty, btw I use an AX8 and the CAE 3+ (I think Luke was using that preamp in that era) Preset with compressor and delay gets me pretty close.
@@alejandroaguilar4693 In the Live in Paris 1990 he was still using the first Soldano X88R prototipe, then he switched to the CAE 3+. Here I'm using a Kemper with a Suhr PT100 profile. I only use a bit of noise gate and a delay:)

Ciao Giovanni:)! Scusami mi è sfuggito il commento! Ho usato il Kemper per la simulazione dell'amplificatore, mentre il delay viene da Logic per semplicità nel missaggio. Comunque con l'ultimo aggiornamento di sistema anche il Kemper adesso ha dei delay molto interessanti:)! Prima o poi mi devo mettere a tirar giù I'll be over you, mi farebbe un gran bene:)! Che assolo devastante:D! Effettivamente c'è qualche passaggio bello sparato in mezzo:)..

Ciao Luca, grazie mille:)! Qui sto usando un Kemper senza magheggi particolari, chitarra, un bel po' di distorsione dell'ampli (anche se digitale) e un delay abbondante... Riguardo a consigli dipende un po' dal tuo setup. Se per la distorsione usi i pedali a me piace il Friedman BE-OD, se invece usi la distorsione dell'ampli forse un attenuatore che ti permetta di sfruttare bene le valvole sarebbe l'ideale, tipo il Fryette Power Station (mai provato ma sembra molto figo visto online).

Thanks:) For this solo I think I used a PT100 profile from the kemper and a multitap delay from Logic. But in general I think that the ingredients for this kind of tone are: marshall type distortion, V30, quite a bit of mids and a nice stereo delay with highs rolled off a bit.

Any stereo delay with one side set to quarter note and the other set to eighth note (or dotted eighth) it's fine:). Yes I really like Dan Huff:D!

before i forget what pickups are installed in your guitar?
There's a EMG 85 in the bridge position, and the single coils are EMG too but I don't remember which model. They're very similar to the ones they make for the Lukather EMG set:)

Ciao Andrea! Grazie mille:)! Non saprei in realtà, ci sono un po' di sestine di sedicesimi e poi i pattern da nove sul finale ma sono divisi in modo irregolare. Di solito tendo a fare quelli come esercizi di tecnica perché con la mano destra mi risultano particolarmente scomodi e sono buoni per la sincronia. Diciamo che se riesci a fare i pattern da 9 (3 note per corda su 3 corde) come i due che ci sono qui sul finale, a sedicesimi a 140 bpm PULITI, tirando un po' dovresti spuntarla anche con la "sfuriata finale" di questo solo.
