COLORFUL TRAUMA
나를 괴롭혔던 다양한 모습과 색깔의 상처들이 시간이 지나고 쌓이고 아물어, 지금 다시 뒤돌아보니 너무 다채롭게 남아있는 기억 속으로 황홀경에 빠져 웃어본다.
‘WOODZ’라는 아티스트를 딱 한 가지로 정의할 수 없는 이유는 매번 다양한 음악적 시도와 변신을 보여줬기 때문일 것이다. 명실상부한 올라운더로서 그려내는 그의 역량과 다양한 매력들은 늘 새로운 컬러를 탄생시키며 다채롭게 진화하여 그야말로 ‘COLORFUL’한 WOODZ라는 장르를 만들어냈다. 이번 미니 4집 ‘COLORFUL TRAUMA’는 퍼포먼스 위주보다는 듣는 음악에 더 힘을 실어 WOODZ가 들려주는 이야기에 더 집중할 수 있는 곡들로 구성되어 있다. 세련된 사운드에 담긴 레트로한 무드는 락 베이스 곡들의 매력을 극대화하며 대중을 매료시킨다.
또한 강약을 절묘하게 조절한 곡 구성은 비단 타이틀곡뿐만 아니라 이번 앨범의 모든 곡들에 집중할 수 있도록 영리하게 배치되어 있다. ‘COLORFUL TRAUMA’라는 이번 앨범 타이틀이 오히려 역설적으로 ‘COLORFUL HEALING’으로 다가올 수 있는 건 다양한 상처와 아픔을 트라우마로 남기는 것이 아니라 극복하면 그저 추억의 한 부분에 지나지 않는다는 WOODZ의 감각적인 가사도 큰 몫을 차지한다. 더 성숙해진 WOODZ의 감성으로 써 내려간 가사는 곱씹을수록 그가 들려주는 이야기 속에 빠져들게 만든다.

His music is definitely not for a random kpop stan, this man doesn't have the typical sound you hear in commercial kpop. Master one genre and try another, going from one to another without any problem. He's a true artist.

Everything about this is ART. The MV, the set, the styling, the music, the lyrics and Seungyoun himself. It's almost impossible to consistently put out high quality music but Woodz is an artist who definitely manages to do so. 처음에 들었을 땐 멜로디가 단조롭다 싶었는데 들을수록 귓가에 자꾸 멜로디가 멤돌고 안 듣고 있을 때도 머릿속에 계속 떠오르는 게 중독성 장난아님 솔직히 요즘 차트 상위권 노래들보다 훨씬 잘 만든 곡인데 많이 많이 알려지길 바래요

'파랗게' 처음 들었을 때 곡 너무 좋다 생각했었는데 알고보니 본인이 작곡한 곡이어서 놀랬던 기억이...
그 뒤로 음방도 몇 번 봤는데 라이브도 진짜 잘 하더라구요. 한동안 아이돌이었다는 사실이 아직도 믿기지 않음... 이렇게 꾸준하게 다양한 장르 소화하면서 자기 색깔 보여주는 거 너무 대단한 것 같아요. 개인적으로 올라운더 가수 중에 손꼽을만한 가수임 진짜. 더 흥하시길 바랍니다!!! 우즈 파이팅!

@@AmuJaneTV J-rock means japanese rock, it's rock but by japanese band. And woodz is Korean so obviously it's not J-rock. It's just rock. This song in particular has pop sound in it too, so I'd say this is punk pop. And woodz has songs more rock than this one in his Colorful Trauma album, which are Dirt on My Leather, and Hijack. That's the album the OP above was talking about.

Woodz absolutely always brings such flavor to every track, and I mean that stylistically, lyrically, and musically. As someone who grew up deep in the heart of pop-punk, watching this and listening to it was an absolute joy, a blending of the modern vibe of an artist I love with the music that spoke to me in my teenage years. This as the title track to an album named "Colorful Trauma" is absolutely perfect - that formative love that we experience that shapes many of our future relationships can feel immature in retrospect, but when you look at the lyrics, in the back of my mind I do wonder... Are they actually busy? Do they mean what they say?
