I remember me and my mate John at 11 years of age stealing this from his brothers record collection in 1981, and playing toy saxophones and singing it on the street. What a great Year What a great band What a great life! K. Northern Ireland
A huge influence on the re-awakening of reggae. UB40 added a unique twist to the sound and bought a whole new generation around to the sound. Simply brilliant :)
That whole double LP was brilliant. I wasn't born till '84 but my dad had the original pressing, that got me into reggae before I even started listen to the Jamaican stuff
this man has one of the most soleful voices I have ever heard and stil sends shivers down my spine when I hear all there tracks. One of the best bands ever and make me want to get up and dance everytime.
Yeah this one is proper, don`t let anyone tell you or say this ain`t a proper reggae tune,it is ,those who lived through "thatcherism" in early 80`s britain will know why this tune is/was so relavent, a killer tune born out of frustration and poverty, timeless and wicked on all counts.Big-up UB40. One of my top 20 all timers.
I went to Wolverhampton Polytechnic between 1979-1982, and UB40 used to play there at least once a week LOL. I saw them dozens of times before this became a hit. Great days... brings back so many memories. And even more relevant today, with so many kids leaving college to find only McJobs or worse.
why you got a thumbs down for that i do not know. i am 43 and was soooooooo into UB40 when 15 they where bril and i am here looking for their first hit. i know the album cover looked like an old dole form - argh so you feel old, so do i x
Love this beat. So nice to listen to. Ali Campbell sounds the best . Ali is so happy with alot of beat & rhyme He is the heartbeat of this band in 1981. Still feel the beat in 2009. Best Wishes always to you Ali.
