We are interested in getting ducks. How often do you feed them? Once a day? Do you like your water bowl? Is it weighted? Is it a dog bowl? Do you recommend? Thank you
We feed once in the morning, one ounce per 1lb of bird. Ours weigh about 4lbs each, so for the 3 of them I feed 12oz of feed and add water which makes the mix more of a porage or slurry consistency...We use a large dog bowl for water that we elevate with a couple bricks. But you can use any container that is deep enough for them to dunk their whole bill into.
Once the sun sets they always settle down close to their pen, and I lighly heard them into their house at bedtime. It's so routine to them now that it's not a struggle...But if it's still light out, it's way more of a struggle.
Ducks can be loud depending on the breed. Ours are Welsh Harlequins, and they are mostly quiet. We live in a suburban neighborhood and have had no complaints. I personally love them as backyard pets ❤️
