The 5 must have pool shoots series is one of my go to videos, I watch at lease 2 before I head the pool hall...And maybe one of the mistakes everyone makes videos. My biggest take away today would be, "To always look at the shot first". I find myself forgetting that sometimes when everything is like running on autopilot.

Hey I'm 75 years old and have been playing pool for 63 years and staying with all of the new technology. Hey I'm not anywhere as good as I was, maybe it's my age. Well guess what some of my game has come back I'm running tables again, and had a 50 ball run in 14.1. Went back to the basics, all of the way back. I put an 85 ¢ crushed Lepro tip on my Revo and Master chalk. Squirt and skids were only invented when we started using them G%!!#& layered tips and that funny $$$ chalk. Thanks Brian

Absolutely Love It!!! Tremendous video B!!! This should serve loads to those who want to improve but it does require practice. And you are absolutely right - gotta make the shot from both sides! but with near the same result. We have a tendency of cutting better to one side than the other, it's comfort ... many times we'll hit the cue-ball differently, LEFT vs RIGHT - Bottom vs Top. Another great video Brian. Hope you have a great holiday! By the way, my Ikon4-5 with Revo 12.4 shaft arrived and I got out to play with it a couple nights this week. I'm blown away by it. The quality and the feel are just second to none. My buddy I usually play with played a couple racks with it and by the end of the night was saying he might need to get himself one soon haha. Hoping to add the BK Rush and Air Rush in a month or so to complete the set and roll with that for many years. Thanks for all your advice!

This is such an important shot and one I practice every time I get a chance. It can really make a big difference in your position play. Once you get the hang of it, especially the running english shot, it becomes fairly easy to get almost anywhere. The difficult part of this shot is the inside english as you mentioned. Yes, you make it look really easy, but if a guy/gal works on this shot for a few weeks they can become pretty proficient at it.
I also practice versions of this shot with no running english, but instead use different levels of center on the cue ball. Learning those shots can also help you get to many places, just like running english, but you don't have to worry about deflection or spin induced throw. Real world videos like this are such a big help to many of us.

Your tip about using the same spot for English so you can keep it simpler to get consistent has helped me quite a bit as too.

I have spent at least 6 hours on this so far. Those angles are definitely not as easy as you make them look lol!
Great video B! I beat my buddy that normally hands me my ass last night with almost the exact same angle, placement and length on the 8 ball!
I stayed calm, only thought about my leave for my next shot then pretended the 8 was the 6 ball. I left him with 5 balls on the table once and 4 the second time I beat him! I won 2 out of 6 games with him but those 2 wins felt AMAZING!!

I like referencing the table for angles, corner to side being 45 degrees and corner to 7th diamond on opposite rail is 30 degrees(1/2 ball hit)
I make these shots look too easy is an understatement. :) Another great video.

Brian, Really appreciate your lessons. Great explanation on what to expect from the cue ball. after not playing for 40 years, trying to get a game back has been tough but your videos along with some one one lessons, I am starting to pocket a few balls in a row. Just missed an 8 ball runout because i over ran the 8 ball. Maybe I can get into some league play without letting everyone down, Myself included

Great video Bryan. Around the 4 minute mark of the video you said we had to develop a feel for the angle but you actually gave us that information 2 years ago with the intro to 2 rails kicks with the Diamond System. You instinctively have the tangent line go through diamond "5" on the short rail to hit the second diamond on the long rail. If you moved that cluster up 2 diamonds toward the side pocket then you want the tangent line to go through diamond 3 on the short rail with running english. Sorry if I confused everyone

I play 8 ball pool in the uk. Slightly different, but some great advice here. I’m a bit behind you in terms of knowledge, but not too far, and am hoping to reach your kind of level in the next few years. My cueing and stance, potting accuracy are all good, I just need to master the side spin. Appreciate your videos, and will be watching more. The thinner the action the faster the CB. This can get down to so thin the CB is barely effected too tho so you need to practice all the tangent lines. Personally I like center side ball without the top spin too..the CB will rocket around with side spin too

First of all, thank you for your content, it`s brilliant. I have got a question about your stroke at 5:04. You moved your cue quite a lot during/after the contact with cue ball to the left side of shooting line. Is it just your way how to deliver the cue or is it something what you would recomend to your student?

The cue simply deflected off of the ball but it was already gone. Not my best form.
A lot of those shots can be done with high and low English or you don't have to account for a squirt deflection throw Etc. Sometimes you have to spin it. But if you watch the pros they only do it when they need to with a few exceptions
I hope it didn't sound like I was knocking your video. I really wasn't I love your Channel. I know a lot of the stuff because I've played pool for 60 years but it's helpful to be reminded. And no one knows everything and can't learn from someone else. Unless you're talking about the aliens like Reyes anyway thanks for your time putting up these videos they're helping a lot of people. If I would have had something like this when I was a young man I would have learned much quicker and not developed a lot of bad habits I had to break later on. Thanks a lot

When I watched this video I thought the same thing, this sort of thing is only helpful if the shot absolutely needs left or right spin to get back in line.

First. a disclaimer. Predator gives me free cloth: That said, I think it is better than Simonis in that it is faster than 860 HR. It has. not shown much wear and I put tons of hours on it, with jumps, masse shots etc and it has held up very well. I have the Reserve cloth which cost a little more and only comes in one color but I would bet that all of them are great.

Ya us 9 ball players love that 45 degree cut going out of the corner shot. And it always feels more natural to use the spin that's opposite to what hand you are. Like you I'll spin the ball anyway I need to but I do like right hand English the best. I'm left handed btw. I think that mentality it's just easier to visualize because the ball is coming back across your vision zone. I've always said that us rotation players like more angle than 8 ball players. In fact I actually prefer more angle than the shots your showing because you don't have to work the cue much to move around the table. As I've gotten older I tend to just love to foat the cue ball to position. Even though I have a lot of cue power. Amping up all the time reduces the number of run outs you'll get. Plus taking thinner cuts means you don't have to use as much side spin. They just become speed control shots. Soft speed control shots. When I watch the top players in the world I've been seeing this trend more and more. Plus I tend to use parts of the pocket to more my cue ball. If I need to travel more I'll hit the thin side of the Pocket. If I need to kill the cue I'll hit the thick side of the pocket

You could. If possible, I’d like the cue ball to run but it’s a personal preference. The shot you’re talking about I did later in the video. You could do a variation of that. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments.

Can u stroke that shot with inside English and get that closet rail before the side pocket . U can decrease the angle a little to make it possible.

Is this shot aimed without English center cue ball to out side edge of object ball but when English applied you have to compensate to hit object ball a little fuller
The shot is aimed with a ghost ball. The compensation from english should come naturally. If it does not, then you need to shoot thousands more shots with outside english. Nevertheless, a very good question. Thank you for watching.

What is your opinion on the Predator pool table?
Make the table in the video is an Ohlhausen, 9 foot with predator cloth. Predator responses my channel which is why you see their logo - that aside. I think their predator table is amazing. I’ve never seen one person ever say anything bad about it.
That shoot use back hand or fronthand English ?
I don’t use backhand or front hand, English. That’s a crutch that you don’t need with low deflection cues - I play English parallel to the shot and the shot in the video is almost always outside English.
Does it matter when you are a left handed player?
It does not matter. In fact, you should learn this shot from both sides. I play one side for the best camera angles but you need to work both sides of the table. Thanks for watching.
