    Listening to Michael Brecker live with Chick Corea on Three Quartets was what caused me to decide to work to become a jazz saxophonist. I had the same first name, so how hard could it be, lol? Like so many others in my generation I would find out eventually that trying to play like him was an impossible endeavour, leading to frustrating, inevitably unfavourable comparisons. Too Frikking' amazing!!! Like with Coltrane, who inspired his playing so much, are no words to describe that level of genius, heart and massive dedication. The rest of us are just mere mortals in contrast, eking along our respective musical journeys and have to content ourselves with whatever we can coax out of our instruments!

    I found a website many years ago that shared the entire concert for free. The website no longer exists but was glad I was able to get it and share it here for all too enjoy. The site also had a David Sanborn concert with the Danish Big Band orchestra performing Gil Evans arrangements and a Bob Berg concert as well. Good news - I got 'em all!

    8:39 shows why the music world will utter his name for years to come as one of, if not THE, greatest sax players ever

    Dinosax, thank you for sharing this INCREDIBLE moment. One of the greatest pieces of sax music I have ever heard. I love Michael Brecker, but this is on another level....

    Beautiful amazing piece of music...👌
    Also kind of nostalgic - reminds me of the solo concerts I used to give under the covered walkway of the Rijkmuseum in Amsterdam back in the 90's during my days as a busker.

    Adorable! 'Trane concurs with an affectionate smile.
    It's ALL Breckeresque, and then - - - less than 5-years hence, he has succumbed - to Celestial's embrace..

    This performance is absolutely killing. In my opinion, his definitive solo naima performance. His sound is also unbelievable here.

      A little wet (Reverb) never hurts.

    • @Brianhartmanmusic
      @Brianhartmanmusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The anti reverb crowd is a reaction to the sappy smooth jazz overuse of it, which is fine but has nothing to do with artistic integrity. .
