What do we mean by file system state that fsimage stores. I mean what's the difference between the fsimage (as in the contents of the file) with and without edit logs?
fsimage is not a text file. it is binary file that is consumed by the application hence cannot be updated on the run. Think of edit logs as quick notes that you take in a class that you can later go at home and convert into proper study material.
