So this is my first season watching hawaii volleyball and I am noticing they really don't play with a different color Jersey libero. Honestly didn't know you could do that! They are going to be tough to beat. Love watching this team. Oregon transfers brought me here but wow these ladies are awesome. I absolutely love the passion from the head coach! I'll definitely be rooting for this team!
This is the first season the UH coach is doing this. Probably to change it up and have another option to attack. Either way, it’s working pretty well as majority of them can dig the ball pretty well. It’s just their passing that’s shitty.

Not that they aren't important because they definitely are, but this system the coach has going on with attackers in the back row plus they can all pretty much take control of the 2nd ball contact if need be is working great. I've honestly never seen a team not play the libero so it's different but hey whatever works
What's exciting and dangerous about this team is that they're not even at full potential yet. This was their first weekend playing against top tier talent. Getting that quick bout of experience will be extraordinary to watch in weeks to come! This team is quickly rising the ranks of my favorite UH teams in history.
Jacob Johnson they look close, wait a few weeks, I think part of what’s getting them wins is that teams have basically never played against this system, and it’s causing confusion. Teams with film on this system may be able to prepare for it after this weekend though
Thomas Erickson How is it confusing just because they don’t have a liberal? There are times when the men don’t play with a libero as he is subbed out and taking a break...
Rasmussen was really good at Oregon but saw limited action the past two seasons which I thought was due to injury. Choi is a very good setter from Utah! The PAC-12 transfers should elevate HI's ranking this year.
I honestly think this team is better than the team last year. And the majority of them are FRESHMEN! Thank god we have Rasmussen. She was the only one to work and score points at times.
It's a new system that coaching staff is trying. They have libero Rika Okino ( excuse the spelling). Without libero they able to have 5 attacker at all time. If the passer struggle, libero will come in and pass.

xilzzz I used to think the opposite. I thought the back and forth rally was more exciting than it being over quick in one rally. But I actually had never seen a men’s game at the time. When I did decide to watch, I quickly grew to like the men’s games. But I just like to watch both because I like watching our local teams.

Paige Frost the only time I’ve seen it happen is when teams sub the libero out to take a break.

@Locomojoboy2, that's your opinion but I also see the aggressive play the coach is aiming for. But they need to DIG good passes in order to hit.
@OnceUponATime I think it has to do with the first pass, setters can't give a good control set without a good pass. I just love volleyball. 🏐

i know it’s different for both genders but watching girls play is so boring. tips galore.
But so different playing. 😁 After 10 years, finally played in a coed tournament. Talk about rude awakening and fast adjustments.
Trudy Tso yeah i definitely respect women volleyball but to me at least i find men’s more entertaining
I enjoy both. Men's is definitely faster paced and great plays. But love the mental aspect and team energy in both. 🏐
