I have a close friend who's a furry. If they find someone who's accepting of furries, they talk about furry stuff A LOT. It's a part of them that they have a lot of fun exploring, but it's also something that a lot of people find gross/inappropriate/awkward.

the main problem with LGBTQ+ is that there are 3 groups involved. you have the loud and obnoxious anti- crowd, the loud and obnoxious pro- crowd, and then you have EVERYONE ELSE! the first two groups love screeching their stupidity to the universe while everyone else tells them to just shut the fuck up. when one group gets any sort of victory (whether legal, political, or social) they start screeching LOUDER! these groups also be the ones that tend to bully those that are in the first group, which can drive more into the OTHER camp and making the problem even worse... personally I do not give a fuck what someone wants to do in their OWN bed, but they do not NEED to shove it in front of my eyes and screech at me about bullshit or complain why I do not see the world the same as them. if they wish to have a resonable discussion describing some problem they have, i am WILLING to have that discussion. even fight FOR THEM if need be. but if at any point (especially if they cannot convince the general public) they decide to throw a tantrum they lose me instantly.

Well there is a spectrum of furries that goes from normal people who like them artistically , some people who like to dress up as them ( full fursuits, partial fursuits etc) and sooome people who like well...... furry drawings and animations/videos with a lot of added detail ( you know what I mean) but personally I just like the costumes and art. The one thing that annoys me is the misinterpretation of the featured story. The person telling the story clarifies that it’s NOT an orgy. Sure, it’s a bunch of gay men in their 30s wearing fursuits, but from the way the gathering is described, there’s only a little bit of naughty play and probably mostly just talking, watching tv, playing card games, etc. Don’t get me wrong, calling it an orgy is an acceptable exaggeration for the sake of clarifying how weird the situation was.

Same. That's a pretty accurate and respectful way to describe cons and the difference between Official Convention stuff and private room parties. I try to convey things like that when friends or family ask about it, what people do in private is thier own business, and that includes hotel rooms. It's regular folk like that ED who get the wrong impression. It's too bad he wasn't less entitled or might have learned something important. I fear for his kid and it's why I don't fool around with people I don't know, cause so many underage kids misrepresent how old they are just to be a part of thing, not realizing that stuff has serious legal repercussions.
Its good to emphasize that its not part of the convention. Most furries are children after all, kids loving drawing anthro animals! Its gross to think the con itself would be adult themed, thats basically like fetishizing kids.
The furry con story had me laughing as a furry that it made me shake my head that the parent wasn't getting that they weren't getting the point of PRIVATE in the flyer about the party. Stuff like that lead to Con stories that are later told in "Con Horror Stories" panels at conventions especially when Con Heads talk about the stupidest stuff that ever happened
I would just say depending on their age, if they were like three years old, then I’d just say “it means you like to kiss boys. (If the kid was a boy.)” if the kid was a girl I’d say “it means that you like to kiss the same gender as you.” But if they were like twelve and still didn’t know, I would explain what “initiating in some gay action” really meant.
Learning about lgbtq+ isn’t a grown up thing? When I was 5 or 6 I thought the boys from “the little vampire” were dating, it never confused me or made me sad. It was (and still is) one of my favourite films ever.

They took the time to calmly explain that the room party isn't a commonplace thing, but at the same time, can still pop up, and we will all just shrug off cause we are like that. Makes me wonder how EP wouldn't know that though, if he was indeed a member of the community, paying to be at the con. I know MWFF is one of the more controversial cons as well. It's very likely the 15 year old son is the furry, while the dad probably just decided to take him to the convention, not knowing anything about furries.

The one thing that annoys me is the misinterpretation of the featured story.
The person telling the story clarifies that it’s NOT an orgy. Sure, it’s a bunch of gay men in their 30s wearing fursuits, but from the way the gathering is described, there’s only a little bit of naughty play and probably mostly just talking, watching tv, playing card games, etc.

Same. That's a pretty accurate and respectful way to describe cons and the difference between Official Convention stuff and private room parties. I try to convey things like that when friends or family ask about it, what people do in private is thier own business, and that includes hotel rooms. It's regular folk like that ED who get the wrong impression. It's too bad he wasn't less entitled or might have learned something important. I fear for his kid and it's why I don't fool around with people I don't know, cause so many underage kids misrepresent how old they are just to be a part of thing, not realizing that stuff has serious legal repercussions.

As a fuzz ball myself, I like how the story at MWFF, was handled by OP. Regardless if the "friend" part is true or not. They took the time to calmly explain that the room party isn't a commonplace thing, but at the same time, can still pop up, and we will all just shrug off cause we are like that.
