- Off-Road Legend Robby Gordon passes 97 competitors during the 2023 Progressive King of the Hammers Presented by Optima Batteries.
After starting in the very back of the field, 106th off the line, Robby brings the Gomez Brothers Racing Ultra 4 Rig to the finish line with an impressive 9th place finish.
Well done John! Way to support your new neighbor- I know you always have- Robby is truly a GOAT. IDC what the current conversation is, he is a racer. Period. I have always like to stand in a crowd of racers OR just people talking trash and ask out loud; "by a show of hands, who standing here has been paid to race an Indy car?" .......Always silence. Much respect for you and Gordon John Tuba! What an opportunity to ride along for almost two hours with a multi-time Off Road champion and an Off Road film legend that has brought the desert into your living room for years. This is homework. Well done John Tuba, well done.
This gives you a whole different view of the race excellent video ! Robbie is a master driver and the Gomez family letting him run their pre runner class act !

Good Stuff! Robby proves again he still has a lot left in his tank. The Gomez team/family and the UFO cars are amazing. The 77 car certainly was impressive with no pre race prep.

Let no one say RG doesn't know how to play in the rocks! I had to fast forward to 1:40 to 1:50ish to watch him negotiate, with great finesse, up those giant rocks. Winching was a bonus too see. Throttle control was on point never over revving the engine through the section. Gotta say the UFO car really performs. Outstanding video!

I think people forget to often just how talented this guy is behind the wheel. I don't think he even put a scratch on this thing and finished top 10 from the back.

@@PolyPerformance Yes, I shot them coming through Outer Limits....love the music! Let me know if you want that footage...most likely got them on lap 1 & 2, as well. I shoot for Turn2TV in Phoenix....they will sell you the footage, mine plus other shooters.

Wonder if Mr Gordon is feeling a bit out of sorts. Can't get the RPM's up to 9 grand. You can ALWAYS tell when he's coming by that trade mark screaming engine.
Is Robby G cousin of Tod & Nichole Running TTB beefed up like I did maybe better to my full size Bronco ? I have asked my good friend about getting some wheels Robby has .and gone to his shop to get some there but can not get any info oh well I tried but bummed some I have done so much work and hours for the best info . I rebuilt my long chromoly beams to my radius arms . I made my plates and gussets out f 1/8 inch wood and picked uo the best plate metal I could from a metal supply shop and had it cut from Mitchell bbros with computer nav water jet cutter. Took it all apart again and to my friend to weld it all up. then spent time after installing A F250 pass side slip shaft axle cycled it turning left & right while up and down spinning the front wheels by hsnd in 4 wheel drive with no springs clearing any tight spots. Also cleaning up my new spindle and brake calipers that bolt to the 96. ones I got when I found some glass fenders and hood and core support from the 96 part out I spit the fenders and gusseet them up on the outside and made the mounts from sprinkler steel pipe cutting it to fit just right with a weld washer and a nut tacked inside tthen drilled the glass in the right spot for the rubber grommet the bolt goes through into the nut in my pipe mounts welded to the inner fenders outside . the factory stuff can be bolted back uo to the inside. WITH MY 4" CUT & TURNED LIFT LONG CHROMOLY RADIUS ARMS STAINLES STEEL BIG HEIM JOINT MOUNTD TO PLATES OF SSTEEL FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE FRAME AND FRAME TO FRAME REAR SHOCK TOWER FORWARD JUST ENOUGH TO DEAVER SPRINGS TO KEEP INTERIOR SPACE AND NOT TUB IT IN AI STILL HAVE MY LONG king SHOCKS ON EVERY WHEEL THAT i ORDERED FROM THE MAN bRETT WHO INTRODUCED ME TO LANCE AFTER MY MISSION TO THANK HIM FOR SELLING ME THEM AFTER PUTTING MY bRONCO ON THE SCALE FRONT AND REAR SEPERATE. when I got home loking at pictures my Canadian with a smile like pamela Anderson had looking at me after I introduced my self and offered a drink was decliened as nice as could be. LOOKING AT PICS SHE TOOK AT THE mINT 400 CONTINGENCY i WALKED RIGHT PASS bj bALDWIN . i SAID WHY DID SHE TAKE IT SHE SAID THE KIDS PLAYING ON THE TRUCK BEHIND HIM WERE CUTE. i SAID DAMM i WISH i would have met him he and robby are the best him BJ Baldwin and Robby Gordon I hoped to meet at the river he has a pace near his dd Gary and his mom share with his grandpa & grandma. My full size bronco now has more travel than the Raptor on Kings 4556 gears & lockers a monster trans i had to have rebuilt after a full roller 351 w built by Greg G in Santee where I got motor and trans mounts from auto fab. upgraded my brakes and new radiator glass fenders & hood gusseted and plated and slot more. F25o pass side axle chromoly outers and race shop front taller shock towers and lower shock mounts to th bottom web gusset on the radius arms Unitrax did my gears and lockers and ART CAR the drag racers trans shop rebuilt my trans from the brother of Monsters new shop. After a ref=erens from fast on wheels you tub channel killer Ford Bronco.I had bought a new ford lNavigatorfro Gary T but my ex wife alienated my daughter and took that saying I like my old Ford But $$$ I Bought the 87 for a god price and she took my tax returns of a lot of money and got a lawyer for the divorce long story but custody was taken with BS saying I who went to Catholic school for 91/2 years was DEVIL WORSHIPER !how IN REALITY HOW COULD THAT EVER BE ? bECAUSE i LIKED THE BAND acdc. Yes I do but not aware or believe they are about that at all!I like Angus Young s playing guitar I play too played in the best DAMM Punk Band with my Gibson Less Pau the paul in front of my full stack 150 watt with Randal head the best solid state there is. tith 412" jaguar's in the slant cab net under the head and 4 more 12: Celestians that Marshal uses under my slant cabinet in the straight cabinet Also with a 350 watt 6 channel powered mixer tiosing the songs I wrote and ones I wrote with the band some with my D.A.M.M.DRUMMER friend who him &Istarted Drunks Against MADD Mothers with me. nothing against the madd mothers themselves but a good name for our loud punk rock band playing keg parties!

I don't think "racing" is Robby's favorite thing. Racing just enables him to do his favorite thing.
Chasing people down and passing them seems to be his "Favorite thing"... Racing is just a byproduct.
Starts 106th and finishes 9th. Hopefully he can team up with them again next year, he needs a proper car like this, not something he tries to build himself.
