Ever notice that in almost all documentaries whenever a corrupt politician is being interviewed they always start laughing while being asked serious questions?!
Freshtex Blackman - to a corrupt politician, it’s rare for them to ever be challenged that openly in their respective countries (as they usually can retaliate in lethal ways). I think they find it amusing because it’s a surprise / is refreshing to be challenged like that.
Asxfjkjsryuj vbSdoknbf are you simple? Its well documented that Arabs have a distinct hatred for Africans even the ones who are Muslim. They are planning to expel all Native Africans in coming years.
Miss translation. The minister didnt say that he doesnt know abt the issue... rather he said that hes wondering why a journalist is bringing this issue not the united nations and refugee aid ngos. Which implies lots of meanings... U just assumed a total offtopic statement on his tongue
Props to Isobel Yeung-what an amazing and fearless reporter! Not all of Vice’s reporters hit the mark, but she is incredible! And she got that guy sacked because of her fearless questioning of the Ministry of the Interior
We as people of the Horn of Africa we opened doors for the Arabs, we even have Yemenis who fled to Somalia in the Yemen civil war, we treat these people with respect but look how our people are being treated when they go to Arab nations.
The Yemenis mainly go after Ethiopians and Eritreans and not Somalis when rounding up passers-by, because their are thousands of Yemeni refugees that fled the Yemeni civil war in Djibouti and the peaceful/stable regions in Somalia, primarily the states of Puntland and Somaliland.
that alwani's boss 100% knew and when vice busted him and alwani he threw alwani under the bus. Alwani is prob sanctioned harder than just being fired since he showed the media this. His boss is free though.
Humans trying to find new life anywhere. Willing to travel and work for the better . It's Shame that other humans can see them as human.. any of us could have been born into this, just remember that.
You're either a troll or a very entitled right wing. I've noticed that many of you are breeding like maggots across the internet calling anything that you don't agree with "fake news". Quickly, hurry to infowars and Breitbart. There is some "truth about something" that has been dropped!
Abdulraheem Alyousufi Racist people are everywhere, but in general Yemen racist I disagree. Most African immigrants are treated good over there, but it is the UAE and their militia who are the ones causing mischief and oppression. They pretend they are there to fight the houthis yet they officially ended their military involvement against the houthis like 2 month into the war. They are imprisoning yemenis, torturing them and sending them to secret prisons, some in Africa and some in south Yemen. They pretened every one they capture is isis or Al Qaeda. They took socotra island and have control in aden, shabwa and other areas in the south. It is clear they came for their own twisted reasons.
Also how are Ethiopians refugees? Eritreans fits that, Somali fine, justify the label refugee over economic migrant instead of just rolling with a hard hitting title.
kevin moseley Eritrea has an oppressive regime, Somalia has a civil war, Ethiopia has both but at smaller scales. The Ethiopian government is cracking down on ethnic rights and there are ongoing communal clashes between Oromos and Somalis in the east.
As an Ethiopian who has lived in Ethiopia and visited multiple. I can honestly say that there is “something“ ( amazing infrastructure universities) in Ethiopia and yet the person who said that there’s nothing was wrong. And I understand the government was not stable this past year but the refugees entering Yemane and cannot speak for the country of Ethiopia only on their experience.
Yemen as a country is worse than their country Ethiopia. I don't understand why are they going there? unless the Emirates and Saudis want to use them for their war against Yemeni people since one of them mentioned that they are being sold?
Not to condone what Khaled Alwani was doing, but this piece cost this man his job and for what? Reactionary action to be taken by his government, potentially putting his life at risk because of the scrutiny vice brought to him? The disbanding of the camp hardly guarantees by any means, that these migrants/prisoners will see any better conditions after being moved, nor will they be placed under more principled and ethical management. I dont doubt that many of these prisoners were mistreated in the camp and were not provided with the basic necessities many of us watching this video take for granted, but something about this piece feels weirdly counter intuitive.. Is Vice really entitled to being a moral arbitrator of the things that take place in the world around us, without consideration for the impacts of their actions?
Trying to educate myself on current developments in Yemen Not sure I support refugees back to their countries of origin .Am a Somali humanitarian I'll be based in sanaa.Happy to know the reporter was a woman. Gives me hope. Not sure how yemeni woman are active in nation building.
Amina Duale Unfortunately an uneducated, inexperienced Yemeni man will get a position before an educated Yemeni woman does. That is why the nation is in the despair it is in. If you have connections and the money to pay for a position you are hired versus the possibility of hiring a person with education, experience, or progressive ideas.
Blast Oise you can’t hate on them honestly ethiopia while its doing its best and has grown very fast it’s still decades away from providing jobs to its massive population. Eritrea those people I just don’t get them they fought for decades for independence and now they are 1000 times more worse off than they were with Ethiopia but yeah the people aren’t going to fix anything anytime soon
Wow Vice did a brilliant job in Possibly saving hundreds of thousands. You could see the minister was really in shock when he heard what was really happening. Well done Vice.
MAJOW STAR no he was in shock that he was being called out on it. I think he had an idea that this was a possibility. Yemenis are not used to a woman speaking so bluntly about these types of issues.
so you meet a bunch of people on the road and you get one chance to ask them any questions you want and you choose to ask if the war concerns them at all, if they know where they're going, and how far they have left. What does this tell us? Honestly what shallow questions... i don't want to be too quick to judge but come on... you travel all that way and you spend your whole career asking investigative questions and thats the best vice can come up with...
Lesson learned for that AlWani. In a country with such suffocating problems, how would the new camp be better other than with respect to defence against journalists?
This is where the marvel or dc universe comes in and super heroes save all those lives and fix all the hurt and problems in that area. This is sooo fucked. If I were batman...oh man....

@@XiangYu94excellent summation and observation my friend!!!
if those Ethiopians thought they had it bad just wait till they get a taste of what the Saudis think of Africans
Asxfjkjsryuj vbSdoknbf are you simple? Its well documented that Arabs have a distinct hatred for Africans even the ones who are Muslim. They are planning to expel all Native Africans in coming years.
First you said Saudis, then you said Arabs. Be consistent in your narrative.
@@The_yeffy1 what native Africans you talking about? I only see illegal immigrants 🤔
Thank you for taking a risk and exposing the truth

I'm sure the Saudi's will welcome them with open arms and jobs.
Why would they do that? Saudi Arabia already have refugees from all Syria and Yemen

going into yemen and complain about lack of human rights is like trying to find a good smell in a pig farm
We as people of the Horn of Africa we opened doors for the Arabs, we even have Yemenis who fled to Somalia in the Yemen civil war, we treat these people with respect but look how our people are being treated when they go to Arab nations.
Durran Waays people in Horn of Africa wish to be accepted by Arabs so badly .
damn good journalism, great work
The Yemenis mainly go after Ethiopians and Eritreans and not Somalis when rounding up passers-by, because their are thousands of Yemeni refugees that fled the Yemeni civil war in Djibouti and the peaceful/stable regions in Somalia, primarily the states of Puntland and Somaliland.
Amazing work, Vice.

Am from Yemen, I wish I was with you guys to help!!
Can u help me pls
I am from Yemen, and I can tell you that Yemeni people are so racist. What is happening in Yemen is a mess caused by all wrongdoings that we make.
Abdulraheem Alyousufi Racist people are everywhere, but in general Yemen racist I disagree. They are racists but they treat most African immigrants well?
Zulhilmi Ghouse I said in general people in Yemen are not racist.
May God continue to curse you're country for what you're people are doing to these poor migrants!
May Allah bless you from the heavens and protect you for being this honest!
i wonder how much vice had to bribe him for access to his camp
Refugees coming into a country like Yemen...it’s very surreal
thank you for bring topics like this up.

Vice should do a report in the inhuman treatment of people at the USA border. No journalists talk to them yet and no in-depth coverage by Americans.
I come from yemen,,,and wallah these ungrateful American's are clueless how good they have it 😥

Very upsetting
Lesson learned for that AlWani. In a country with such suffocating problems, how would the new camp be better other than with respect to defence against journalists?
Her dress code....why isn't she in jeans like Syria ?

At least they have a lot of plastic chairs 🤷🏿♂️
It's one of the rare times I don't agree with Biden
Now that is how you dip! 2:35 MAN
Do they harvest human organs from these migrants from yemen?
No, they have poor medical service in Yemen for organ transplant. this happen more in south Asia
Planned parenthood has done plenty of human harvesting..yet the media is silent and leftist enough to look the other way
Yes I saw another document some years ago.
Where is the health center
Ugh. Hope they don’t spread to Europe.
Pepe Savior edgy 😂
Pepe Savior go back to school
Zero empathy. Little privileged middle class kid.
Remember when Europeans spread to America and destroyed the indigenous people?
Go to school and learn some history.
Imagine the truth is dough, and we twisted and turned it to make a pretzel. That’s what this video is.
Vice is so at the moment
The Yemen police still have many things. MNy problem.
How can take care that people
Idk, does punching people classify as being beat? Duh
