    Love this watch but love it better in the white dial with blue hands.

    It now has a 69355 movement as well as a glass bottom. And: If you register your watch, they will give you an eight years warranty. Love that watch!

    Nailed it Teddy. It's definitely something you buy not for the movement but more for the stylings. I have one IWC a 1950s caliber 89 with steel case with bombe lugs. Finish on that movement is beautiful.

      I am fortunate to have a caliber 89 dress watch. Great movement. One of my favorite to wind as well.

      @@TeddyBaldassarre you know anything about IWC boxes? Mine came with what I think is the original IWC box it definitely looks old enough. Yours is the 18k one I saw in one of your videos right?

    I have the white dial with gold hands and numerals! The nicest chrono on the market!!

  • @stevo5826
    @stevo5826 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I have the blue hands on white dial - this is a very easy-to-read combination, especially in low-light conditions.
    My absolutely favorite watch. I don't think there is a better looking chrono anywhere, at any price.
    I recently bought a Longines Meister Chrono Moonphase, as I have been jonesing for a moonphase for quite some time and got a good deal on a new one, and I like that watch, too, but when you get down to fine details, you see why the IWC costs 2-3 times as much. The attention to detail, finishing, accuracy, and so on is on a completely different level. And the design is just spot-on perfect.

  • @oorangeo

    Fantastic review! I'd love to see more IWC in the future.
    One comment I must make that applies to most of your recent reviews: I would really appreciate seeing more wrist time with the watches! It's often only a glimpse for two seconds, and worse yet the shot is so tight you can't even see your entire wrist.
    You could get away with several minutes of the video of the watch on your wrist. I'd love to see different angles, varied levels of distance from the watch, and different activities. I think that would really take your reviews to the next level!
    Cheers, and keep up the great work!

    After a month of research the best budget mechanical chrono i can find is the gustav Becker chronograph for $240 . It has a seagull st1908 movement with column wheel and there's an option for a real 29 clicks moonphase including the chrono. Looks like a junghans homage as well

    Have the watch with blue numbers and white dial..
    Love the fact that it gives you everything you need as a dress or casual watch as both Chrono sub dials are similar to the main dial color.

    • @mikejones-dx8bx
      @mikejones-dx8bx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Funny when you or others say they are concerned about a ETA 7750 movement or any ETA movement. ETA only makes some of the most reliable, highest quality movements in the world. And ones that are a lot cheaper to service than in-house movements. Additionally, you can buy watches with their movements at steep discount in the grey market or secondhand.

    My problem with this watch is legibility. I have tried the panda version, the gold Arabic numerals and blue numerals. Although the discontinued panda version was my preference I found that there was a lot of glare and was almost impossible to tell time. I found the white with blue numerals to be the easiest to read. I like that this watch is very thin for chronograph standards and size wise is also very good. One thing to note is that I found to look nicer when seeing the watch on someone else’s wrist than mine. I found it a bit plain for my taste when on my wrist

  • @silvergreyish
    @silvergreyish 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for influencing me to buy the ice, BUT when I went to the boutique, I ended up with the portofino chronograph. It just speaks to me more, especially with the 39mm size, and the Roman numeral instead of Arabic numeral, which makes it more like the dress watch it is supposed to be. IWC is amazing, I hope it stays under the radar from watch enthusiasts

    Beautiful chronograph! I wish IWC made their watches a bit smaller. Another beautiful chronograph is the Sinn 356 flieger II with the beautiful copper dail. Teddy, what are your thoughts on this watch? I think the size of this watch is perfect at 38.5mm and with all the complications, including the day/date, it still looks clean and easy to read.

    • @woodyjag4084
      @woodyjag4084 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @walterk2503 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Kevin! Some of the fun features that drew me to the Sinn 356, besides it's unique copper dail, are the cool airplane shaped hands on the hour and minute sub-dails, the see-through case back, and the drilled lugs for easy strap changing. At 20mm lug width, the options are endless changing the look of this watch. I hope you'll be able to get it, I think you will really enjoy this watch! Best regards, WK

    No doubt this is a stunning watch, incredible attention to detail on the face, and really the entire IWC line is beautiful. I personally don't find IWC in my collection because I like a little more skeleton style look and open back, ultimately feeling like I can get a bit more for my money with other brands.

  • @praetor47
    @praetor47 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    this in blue is one of my favourite looking watches ever.
    that said, it's one of THE most overpriced watches on the market (as are the vast majority of IWCs). for a 5th (or less) of the price you get 95% of this watch (though thicker and longer l2l) with various other manufacturers (junghas, archimede, hamilton...). the value-for-money proposition is insanely low. as much as i absolutely adore the looks, i'd only buy it if i had enough money that literally burning 7-8k euros would mean nothing to me.
    that said, the criticism about the movement is quite... unfair. i agree the finishing is atrocious. hell, it's so bad it would be poor at 500€, let alone the price they're asking. put let me ask the critics this: how many chronos with the 7750 can you name that are under 13mm thick with a diameter of 41 or less? here's a hint: 0
    but i'll reiterate: as good as it looks, you'd be hard pressed to find poorer value-for-money in the this price bracket (or any price bracket. really), even used

  • @CrimFerret
    @CrimFerret 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'll admit that I'm mostly not a huge fan of chronographs. It's a complication that few will ever actrually put to use so if it's there it had better be special as well as not be intrusive to the main purpose of the watch (being able to read the actual time). This is a good one. By comparison, I'd call the Rolex Daytona a miserable failure as a watch even if it's extremely desirable currently. If you gotta do a chronograph, make it unobtrusive, make it really special in some way, or don't bother.

    if this the best looking chronograph on the market to your opinion, and it's very comfortable to your 6.25 inches wrist that's allready wonderful, so why you are bothering yourself about the movement?, in house movement meaning better watch?, if you having a reliable movement like you said, and the quality control is really great because it is IWC (you can't compare this to Junghans because the modifications are on a different level and the assembly line on a different league)

    I think the Portugieser line looks spectacular, but it is very expensive for a 7750-based movement. You can have a Sinn chronograph with a top- or chronometer grade 7750-based movement for 2-3k+. I know, they have a very different style, but the value for money is way beyond what IWC offers.

  • @bobbydazzler1780
    @bobbydazzler1780 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Burgundy dial in the latest version is an interesting looking piece. Vintage vibe yet vibrant modernism. The in house movement isn’t spectacular however as the finishing looks a little pedestrian and the autonomy is average at best. Quite a pricey watch of bought new. But there’s definitely something iconic about the design even given the nibbled numerals.

  • @markplayford5836
    @markplayford5836 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even before you mentioned the numerals it bugged me, what even annoys me further is the fact that on the original versions that was not the case. Furthermore regarding the dial, I question the ‘perfect symmetry’ in that the text on the right does not align with the baseline of the text to the left. Yeah I know what your thinking “what a jerk this guy is’ But I was an Artworker and now I’m a QC so this stuff shouts out at me.
    Overall it’s a great watch and agree on the sports/dress tag & very worthy of its iconic status. Years ago I would of loved it as I would only look at chronographs, now though I like a cleaner dial, which is why I prefer divers and pilots watches.
