    From the Christmas before she was born, (born in January) I bought a special ornament for my daughter, and continued until she set up her own house. Turns out while she had a tree full of beautiful vintage ornaments........I had to start all over......LOL She still has them and it's a fabulous tradition.

    Melanie, you are the only TH-camr I’ve seen that’s displayed a nativity set. Thank you. I’m seeing plenty of winter decorations, Nutcrackers, and Santa. But I just want to say Thank you!

    I absolutely LOVE that you have a family tree! We have one also. I have 5 kids and 8 grandbabies, along with son-in-laws, who all have special ornaments on our tree from over the years. And I have ornaments on our tree from when I was a child. My kids and their kids will all have some keepsakes and treasures for their trees one day, but for now, they are still with me as my home is the 'core' and they all say they want it to feel like home when they come over. They all come over every year and help me decorate it. It is the most special time to share and cherish. I love nativity sets and have several that will also be passed down one day. Thank you for sharing your home and traditions. Merry Christmas!

    I love your family traditions, my daughter is now married, but every year I would buy an ornament that represented the year and what she was into in that year, she didn’t know I did this, but at her bridal shower it was one of her gifts I presented her with a beautiful Holiday box filled with ornaments for her tree… some of her ornaments she has a tooth ornament for when she lost her first tooth, the year she got her drivers license she has an ornament to represent that, Disney ornament, etc, etc…
    Isn’t it wonderful your boys still want to be involved with the decorating, I know some children lose interest in putting up the tree, and that’s so sad
    I love the Santa photo of your Uncle, it’s priceless 🎁❤️🎄

    Our cats climb and sleep in the tree. Our tree would be tipped over in 30 seconds or less😂😂. We also did the ornament tradition with our children. They are both out on their own and have a good start on their trees. Lots of memories. We had some ornament filling to do when they left 😂. Our tree was bare looking.

      Oh, those naughty cats! Thankfully, mine have never tried to jump in the tree!

    Collecting the ornaments for your kids will leave you with no ornaments of your own one day! Ha! I did the same thing. But no worries because then you can get all the beautiful shiny ones that you love. (But keep some of the special ones that remind you of them, because you will miss them terribly). Your tree looks beautiful!! Love it. Love the old photos!

    When my boys were small I had a plastic nativity scene set so that they could rearrange it and enjoy it and I didn't have to worry about it being broken. It's an important part of Christmas, or at least it should be!

    Melanie, Sue Craig summed up my thoughts beautifully so there's really not much I can say. But I can share a tradition my parents started, stockings filled with a Red Delicious apple, a Navel orange, Mixed nuts and hard Christmas candy. Hard Christmas candy that "ONLY" my parents liked and ate, L🎄L!!!

    Thank you for inviting us into your home! Everything looks so cozy and twinkly! We had the same ornament tradition as our kids were growing up. I had hopes they would take their ornaments with them when they left the nest but they didn't want them. (sniff) So I still hang them on our tree every year and they enjoy seeing them when they come over!

    • @LostFoundDecor
      @LostFoundDecor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's funny they didn't take them! Who knows, mine may decide to do the same thing :) Either way I guess, it makes for some fun memories!

Your videos are always so warm and welcoming and I enjoyed the sharing of the ornaments and the story behind your nativity. Have a wonderful holiday season. Looking forward to “part 2” of your decorations and traditions.

    We have a lot in common. I’m a Melanie, and I have 3 sons and no daughters, and my sons’ names are traditional short names like your boys. I love the nativity, the cabinet topped with lighted garland, and everything else! Thanks for sharing. I love the tradition of the boys having an ornament each year and wish I had thought of it. That explains why your boys don’t hate helping trim the tree!

    Hi Melanie! I have three grown girls and did the same thing, but I made homemade ornaments every year for them (and still do) and also pick up an ornament every time we travel somewhere. When they all moved out, about 100 ornaments went with them! My tree is much more sparse and less colorful, but very elegant and I still love it. I do miss the old ornaments though. Merry Christmas! 🌲

    Melanie my table top tree that is about 4 feet in an urn, lights died the other day, after 12 years of sitting out, the lights died. It was a prelit tree, so I took my sharp lil pliers and cut all the lights off, instead of trying to unstring it. It came out to be a 50 light strand. So this morning need to buy a new strand, so debating now 50 lights or 100 from watching your video on how to best light a tree. I could not believe the zillions of decorations I had gotten onto that tiny tree omg! Soooo wish me luck on restringing and the many many decorations that lil tree will sport. Happy Holidays!
