I just diagnosed a faulty dryer element using this video and have ordered a replacement from your site. There was no bulge or split in the coil but there was no continuity so I figure its broke. Lets see if it sorts the problem :)

Really useful video! (Beer on route...)
My model of hotpoint WD 520 does not have a flushing valve. After experiencing similar symptoms as described (hot wet clothes following drying cycle), and going through the diagnosis, I found none of the above faults (heater element and all valves working fine). Further investigation and removal of the back panel revealed that the condenser had completely filled with fluff so no air flow would pass through the drying system. It looks like an irritating drying freshness sheet thing had begun a blockage, then lots of other fluff had gathered around it. There was a lot of fluff and had worked its way near the blower in the heating system, which I guess is starting to get dangerous.
A little bit of 'off-script' dismantling allowed me to completely remove the condenser and wash it out by hand. After I've re-assembled the whole thing it now works as well as its ever done.
I just wonder if you should add 'check condenser for blockages' to the list of tests. When you remove the back panel you should be able to see if its got anything in it fairly easily (on my model anyway)
Still - I wouldn't have got to finding my fault without the help of the video.

I did the heating resistance test and the sensor works perfectly but does not heat the water
Do you have any idea what the problem is?

i have a washer dryer it has 3 thermostats 2 175c and 1 140c every few dry cycles it pops one of the 175c always same one i swapped them round and and it trips the swapped round one so it appears as if it gets hotter in that area only can an element get more hot in a part of it and cause the trip

Hi i have hotpoint AMD601 model and it does not heat at all, neither when washing or drying. Its hard to believe that both of these heaters are died at the same time, do you have any other suggestions of where should i look? Also i will cover the steps in video tonight...

I have just been given a Hotpoint WD 860 with the drying problem, Now it's the first time i have had a washer/dryer, I tried a drying cycle & I can hear water being pumped in briefly, Does this mean that the valve you say to test is in fact working?, The heater element is definitely U/S so have got a replacement, But one thing I am not sure about is the fan as i cant hear it running with the machines lid on, Is there a test for the fan while i have the machine apart or should i just power the machine up with the fan housing not in place for a visual check?,,,,,,Cheers.

I have an AEG L7WB86GW, it stops the drying cycle after around 5 minutes. First it measures and then adjusts the drying time, then once the heater starts it switches off the heater, goes to 11 mins and then stops the program. Any ideas what it could be? It's not the heating element, not the sensors and not the PCB. Could this be caused by a faulty mains suppressor? (Interference suppressor) thanks in advance. I don't know how to fix it. Sometimes it dries but 9/10 times it gives this issue. Washing goes perfect, everything comes out clean and fresh!
