    i hope this won't get negative comments. most of the tagalogs discriminate us bisaya and treat us as low life barbarians.sad but true. most of us bisaya treated badly in manila especially those who work as "katabang". i have a tagalog best friend and he's a good guy, he's very fluent in bisaya because we taught him a lot and when he went home to baguio he have a bisaya neighbor and he ask to teach him how to speak bisaya. but all in all, i hate it how tagalogs thought of us bisaya. sad but true. i hope we could get along with each other in the near future.
    i don't hate tagalogs i just hate their points of view against us bisaya.

      not all naman po sir. i have friends and acquaintances from cebu, iloilo, bohol and davao. my family has friends from visayas. i would love to learn some cebuano and maybe chavacano i want to go there if i have chance. for me kasi, before you learn a foreign language, you should first the dialects here in the philippines. support and love our own. i'm from caloocan and i never consider myself a tagalog. for me, i am a filipino.
      we are filipinos!

    "I have something to ask you" is more personal since it's more straight forward. If you want to ask someone for direction u can ask for help by saying "Can I ask you something?" It is better to ask permission first before asking for directions which translates to "Pwede ko mangutana?" or "Pwede ko mangutana nimo?".

      Kenneth Asidera much better if you ask this way,, " excuse me, naa unta koy pangutana."

    • @ffkffkffk
      @ffkffkffk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rowen Codilla Yeah you're not wrong, to say excuse is a form of respect, at least for us, but it's more of subjective if someone wants to say "excuse me", and the topic is bisaya language which "excuse me" is not even bisaya.

    is it just me but 'amping' is like the sweetest bisaya word

    • @vincentreyes6154
      @vincentreyes6154 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is. When I say my farewell to my mother before I leave for school, we both say amping. I love saying this word, and it was one of those words that I understood based on context alone. It's nice and sweet. And I'm not fluent in Bisaya as an American-raised Cebuano.

    @altaguia4187 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is good teaching Bisaya to other non-Bisaya. True, there are Tagalogs who think of themselves as superior and as a Tagalog I don't like that attitude. Pare-pareho tayong Pilipino and it is high time that we do away "regionalism". It is one of the reasons why our country is not moving forward. Until now, since the time before the Spaniards came, we are still divided that is why we can be easily conquered. Take a look at our neighbouring countries. They too have different dialects and yet they are united. It just so happened that Tagalog was chosen as the principal dialect to learn by all which is necessary, I mean having a common dialect/language for all to know to be able to communicate with each other. Years ago, several guest priests stayed with us and they all came from Dipolog. They gladly offered to teach me Bisaya cause they noticed that I look clueless as to what they were talking about. Unfortunately, I forgot most of the words as I have no one to talk with in Bisaya. One of my best buddy and like a brother since grade school is from Samar taught us Waray words to enable us to understand when someone cusses at us or insults us in Waray.

    Too bad I didn't see notice where you are from. I could have had you teach me some more Bisaya. I am trying to learn Bisaya but I'm a slow learner. We were in Balingoan for 3 weeks in Dec 2018. My wife is Pilipina and me Americano. We were there to see family. Very entertaining! Salamat!!! ;)
