I spent some time in Haiti in the late 80's, fell in love with these sweet proud folks. They have nothing and would be so welcoming and hospitable. You could not give them a gift or service without them giving back something in return. It's against an everyday Haitian to take something not their own.

For the past 18 years I have taught business communications to 18- to 29-year-old young adults in a workforce development program. Many of my students have been and are Haitian. They are all here legally. I wish JD Vance could meet any number of my students. They are wonderful, beautiful people filled with pride and love of family and, more often than not, love of God. The BNP's vote almost doubled in the aftermath of that Question Time appearance, so I wouldn't exactly call that a triumph for liberal democracy. I spent some time in Haiti in the late 80's, fell in love with these sweet proud folks. They have nothing and would be so welcoming and hospitable. You could not give them a gift or service without them giving back something in return. It's against an everyday Haitian to take something not their own.

For the past 18 years I have taught business communications to 18- to 29-year-old young adults in a workforce development program. Many of my students have been and are Haitian. They are all here legally. I wish JD Vance could meet any number of my students. They are wonderful, beautiful people filled with pride and love of family and, more often than not, love of God. And they are hard working and respectful and… I could go on and on about how impressive they are. I have so much respect for them… Wait, what am I saying?! JD would overlook all of that.
