Greetings Jeff, Thanks for this awesome info on accelerator pumps. I'm running K40s on my 1900 Type 4 and have trying to solve the dreaded flat spot issue. Just installed a 034 SVDA electronic dizzy that helped BUT the motor was getting too much squirt (~11mm out of the box). I turned it down to about 6-7MM and MUCH improved performance! Many thanks again!
Man I don’t even own a bug anymore but I learned a ton from your video. I used to struggle trying to figure out carb adjustments in the past. Now to convince the wife to get another Baja... Thanks for all the great info!
Jeff - Thank you for a clear discussion of the Solex infinitely adjustable accelerator pump. I actually am setting up my PHH44 Solexs on my 190SL that I've owned for 44 years and all the 190SL Solex adjustment videos seem to ignore this important adjustment. BTW - Does your Gray QC Inspector make house calls? ;-)
Grew up working on bugs with my dad, but they were mostly stock. Got one now with a 2110cc and dual kadrons, something ive never personally put hands on. This thing absolutely hates cold starting and idling, until it's warmed up then its, okish. Crank crank crank while im pumping the gas pedal (is that even right? Since it has no choke, feed more gas? Like my Briggs flathead, blow into the gas tank and force feed it lol) The little puddle of gas on the ground coming from the accelerator pump would be a good reason why it wants to die coming off idle. Also, do dual kadrons need a fuel regulator?
The gauge he has laid next to the arm is graduated in Mm, with the 2 he is starting from being the 2cm mark. His first adjustment you see the arm swing about 4 of the small marks in distance. Those are mm and so it is adjusted for 4mm. After he tightens it down a bit, the pump arm moves about 8 of the small graduations (mm), so it is now adjusted for 8 mm.
So, someone pays you +/- $500 to restore their dual kadrons... and they run worse or as bad after finally returned form yall and you refuse to hlp. saying "we do not work on customers carbs once installed in vehicles?.... so if it is Backfiring and bogging out when to try to give it gas and drive it, what is that? When your repairs are "close"/ Nothing has worked so far ad still 3 months after you rebuilt my dual kadrons, I cannot drive her.... and ya, she had issues, had two rebuilds... properly done per testing yet she wont go down the road, and that is on you ad your carb work and lack of customer support. given I paid near 1k to fix these dame things.... and over one half of that went to you in the process... Iwant valid answer. carbs installs give it gas and it tries to die. YOU JETTING... is allecerator pump to rich or lean and , carbs installed clockwise or counterclockwise adjustments?
I love these hard nose questions. That's how you learn. Sorry about the situation hope you can find out what the heck is going on with them or issues with whatever is causing the problem and report back. Best wishes ✌️
I know this is an old comment, but why would they take blame for the carb you installed? You could have vacuum leaks, the timing could be off, maybe a valve adjustment, the fuel pump, the entire electrical system, all of those things can cause drivability issues and have nothing to do with rebuilding the carbs.

Thanks Jeff, it makes more sense to me now.

very nice and explained my needs.
i see the adjustments but i dont see how you were able to say it was 4mm/8mm travel. Can you explain how you are getting the measurement?
That's right how you figure it out?
Explain your self
Honestly this video is not helping anyone

Do you have a video on float adjustment and hill climbing?
Maddie, how about on a 1600cc engine with a 34 pict-3 carb. How much travel on the accelerator pump?
Good stuff! Thanks!
Cool cat! Does he adjust Kaddies too?
4mm of travel for 1600 with dual kadrons right?
Nice tips.
Either I need to adjust or I have 5000 engine I know what I'm doing tomorrow
