The cartoon portion is made from a technique called rotoscoping in which the artist traces over real life footage frame by frame. Koko the clown was the first time this was used to create a more fluid motion. They filmed a man dancing around in a clown costume in front of a white sheet. It changed the game at the time, vicarious after images drawn and pieced together. Like the ghost of the man they filmed.
Little bit of an inaccuracy here. The film we see here is Betty Boop in Snow White. This is not the first use of rotoscoping, but rather the most famous appearance of Koko. The source footage was ripped from Cab Calloway's performance of St. James Infirmary Blues (Also the audio used in the film). Other than that, spot on! Obviously the point of the film snippets is to demonstrate how information (like live action footage) can be repackaged in several ways to evoke different reactions and takeaways. This is a creepy, disturbing, and completely brilliant video. If people get nothing else out of this video, hopefully they understand the benefit of not taking everything at face value. There was a time when the saying, "Question everything" was popular. Today, however, we live in a society where very few people are interested in the truth, but only in confirmation of what they already believe. It's why memes, TH-cam/TikTok videos, Social Media, and pretty much every other form of media and communications are so effective, very few people even think of verifying what they read or hear, if it confirms their views, they accept it as the truth, repost, or spread the information to others just like them. Cognitive biases, instinctual judgments, and sequential/repetitive exposure all shape individual and public opinion. For those who do not understand the cryptic words. Born out of the ashes of world war refers to Army Special Forces, created in 1952. Army Special Forces precursor was the Special Actives Division of the OSS. The Office of Strategic Service was the precursor to the CIA. What makes Army Special Forces different then say Navy SEALs or Combate Applications Group is they are more like undercover cops. They go live with a specific group of people who are oppressed. The cartoon portion is made from a technique called rotoscoping in which the artist traces over real life footage frame by frame. Koko the clown was the first time this was used to create a more fluid motion. They filmed a man dancing around in a clown costume in front of a white sheet. It changed the game at the time, vicarious after images drawn and pieced together. Like the ghost of the man they filmed.
Little bit of an inaccuracy here. The film we see here is Betty Boop in Snow White. This is not the first use of rotoscoping, but rather the most famous appearance of Koko. The source footage was ripped from Cab Calloway's performance of St. James Infirmary Blues (Also the audio used in the film). Other than that, spot on! Obviously the point of the film snippets is to demonstrate how information (like live action footage) can be repackaged in several ways to evoke different reactions and takeaways. Also because the ghost looks like the one on the patch of the Ghost Army (The foundational event of US Army PsyOps groups)

Army Special Forces precursor was the Special Actives Division of the OSS.

What makes Army Special Forces different then say Navy SEALs or Combate Applications Group is they are more like undercover cops. They go live with a specific group of people who are oppressed.
