Great vintage video. Rest In Peace to the great Don Julian lead singer of The Larks formerly The Meadowlarks & Rest In Peace to Mr. Dick Clark a legend in showing music to people all over America.
Thanks Checker794. I've corrected the title. It sounded like "Forgive Me" when Dick first introduced it. But it was clearly "Forget Me" during the lyrics. Thanks for detecting the error.
The group was originally the Meadowlarks. The Larks was the name of a superb group of ballad singers from the early 1950s led by lead singer Eugene Mumford. Check out "In My Lonely Room" by the Larks (the original group).
Elisa Martin Nope, it's Don Julian. Gene Mumford fronted an earlier version of the Larks. This record was released in 1964 although it sounds like it could have been put out 10 years earlier. My guess is that it was recorded by the old Meadowlarks group and kept in the can for years by the record company.
@@Themaddprof It was very ”too Doo Woopish” for 1964, unfortunately. People wanted to hear The Beatles, The Beach Boys and other popular acts of the day. This fantastic song was unfortunately yesterday’s news at that time, but AB and Dick Clark were late to catch that drift.
It’s great stuff, but it’s too bad that just about every group on American Bandstand and Soul Train didn’t perform live. One exception was Tower of Power.
A great performance
Nice sounds, I'm diggin it !
Thanks

Clarke only built on the groundwork done by Alan Freed in bringing black music to white kids
I love the oldies but goodie’s and I Love watching Dick Clark, like it was yesterday🙂
Smooth group harmony. Does not get much better than this.
Sounds like Heaven and paradise
Beautiful B side!
Great group, great song!

Love it!! Wonderful song.
I wore that 45 out playing both sides over and over again on my Zenith hifi. They were very different but both so good...
Another great upload!
A happy find. Thanks, NNRA.
They were blowin' their butts off. I remember the song well. Blue lights in the basement and getting your
grind on...
One of my all time favorite "B" sides, along "On the Horizon" by Ben E. King (the "B" side to- I'm going to let you figure out that one!).
Love it!!
amazing footage! the songs is called "Forget Me" actually.
I remember 👋🏽
THE FLIP SIDE... NO..... ALWAYS KNEW...
FANTASTIC.. FLIP..SIDES WERE SOMETIMES BETTER THAN THE #1 SIDE..
GREAT SONG..
THE GREAT DON JULIAN AND THE LARKS
Don Julian sounds just like he does on Heaven and Paradise at certain places in this song.
Gene Mumford was lead. on this song

WE SURE LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT... FROM THEN AND NOW... )) "JUST A LITTLE"
November 21, 1964
If they released this one in the late 1950’s, it would’ve been a hit. 1964 was too late unfortunately.
It does sound a bit Doo Woppish for 1964, but still a good song.

@@Themaddprof The Larks other record titled ”The Jerk” was an more appropriate song for that time.
This is a decent doo-wop song.
there must be a good story behind why they are not wearing matching trousers
