    It definitely doesn't have 800gm of down as mentioned in your video. The actual amount of down in the K7 is 300gm of 800 fill down. The total weight of the ME K7 is 820gm (L). My Rab Batura has 450gm of 800 fill down.

      No that was a pretty crucial mess up on my part in the video. It has 300g of 800 fill. I mixed it up with the total weight of the jacket.

      @@naturenate7117 Yes I thought you'd inadvertently mentioned the total weight instead of fill weight. It was still a good review though of the superb ME K7. They make good gear. I regularly use their Expedition goose Down pants (279gm of 800 fill) and Couloir Gore-Tex mountain gloves.

    Hi, I'm considering getting this jacket and I wondered how the sizing is? Should I go up a size if I want it to fit over every layer including a shell jacket, thick fleece and baselayer?

    • @naturenate7117
      @naturenate7117  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely size up if you want to layer underneath it. I got the XL and normally wear Large and can layer nicely underneath the K7. Even in the larger size, it works just fine on its own though. I wear it with just a T-shirt sometimes and don't feel like I'm swimming in it or anything.

      Of course! Let me know if you have any more questions, I use this jacket all the time.

    Hi Nate, would you mind sharing what height/weight you are? I am trying to gauge size.

    • @naturenate7117
      @naturenate7117  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course, 6’2” and 165 lbs. I have the XL so I can layer underneath if needed. The L would have been fine for me too.

    How many down inside? Warmer than a rab Natura? Don't think so

    • @naturenate7117
      @naturenate7117  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Tab definitely has more down. The K7 has 300g of down whereas the Batura has 425g. I have not used the Batura, but traditionally, I do not like my parkas to be waterproof... I use a shell for that so I can regulate when the parka is building up body moisture instead of it happening all the time. Batura looks like a warm jacket though!

      @@naturenate7117 so the k7 is more like a positron pro if not the same?

    • @naturenate7117
      @naturenate7117  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maxpowell3984 Yes, I would say that is a good comparison. It is extremely warm though, like comfortable to -25C being stagnant. The K7 is also breathable, which I think is really important. I use it for a belay jacket ice climbing or while hanging out in camp in the winter.

    In minus 5 to 10 would it be too warm

    • @naturenate7117
      @naturenate7117  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      -5 to -10 C, if you are moving, definitely too warm, but it is nice if you are being stagnant at those temps. Even at -5 to -10 F when moving it gets really warm.

    What about bouncing rain .. scotland has some seriously wet down trashing weather

    • @naturenate7117
      @naturenate7117  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The water resistant nylon of the jacket will definitely soak through in those conditions if given enough time, I would not wear it without a hard shell on top. But if you were to get an oversized hard shell and layer it over top of the jacket, that would do a great job. That is the setup I use in driving snow while ice climbing and have had no issues.

      Hey if you havent already, Kryos is the one that fits that

    • @Globetrotter-1
      @Globetrotter-1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Rab Resolution and Batura down jackets (Pertex Shield) are fully waterproof and breathable, so cope well with Scottish mountain weather and so don't require an extra waterproof shell jacket over the top.

    • @Globetrotter-1
      @Globetrotter-1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sturlajonsson8992 The Kryos is only 10D infinium, so is not totally waterproof for wild and continuous downpours or pelting windblown rains, although ok for short showers.
