Ever find the hidden Conan tomb? Head away from the dwarf fortress entrance, and you'll be looking for a hillside to the south east. Climp slopes until you are facing back towards the fort entrance and voila it's right there. Best easter egg spot in the game.
I am a relatively new subscriber to your channel and this is already over a year old, but man am I excited to see an entire series focused on geology in WoW! I am majoring in Geology in college, and also a long time fan of WoW, so this really is the perfect series for me hahaha. Excellent work and I can't wait to watch the rest of the series!
Welcome to the channel! I am majoring in Science Education and so I've taken a few Geo courses so far... it's been a blast! I hope you enjoy the rest of the episodes. :)
From Wowpedia: Ages ago, the Badlands were a verdant valley, lush with natural resources. Three hundred years ago Ragnaros' arrival blasted this region, scorched the land, and transformed it into what it is today - a desolate, barren wasteland. The area is inhospitable, and was rarely visited until recently
Wow! Thank you for pointing that out!! I don't think I found that piece of the lore during my research somehow, but that's good to know my "game theory" seems to be mostly accurate to the lore! :)
Yeah the dark irons basically screwed up the lands between loch modan and elwynn forest. The orcs too changed the lands around the blasted lands and the swamps of sorrow due to their miasma and sargeras took part in "desolacing" the lands around the tower of mediev
Classic Badlands is one of my favorite zones. I have so many memories of grinding those earth elementals for EXP and all those magic rocks they drop for silver and gold
while not related to geology itself , the dwarf you meet here was an apprentice of feranor steeltoe , the dwarf who made a fiery enchantment for arthas out of searionx's heart , and ofcourse this dwarf apprentice sends you to collect drake hearts to make an enchantment that adds fire damage to your weapon , it pays off to read quest text
Thank you! I have thought many times of making a tier list of WotLK Classic (since that is the version I play) but I honestly love each zone in it's own way, so I have held off on making the video since I feel I would find a way to put pretty much everywhere in S tier XD
@@DIEGhostfish yep. Rigglefuzz. He gives 5 rep per kill. On a ~8 min respawn timer. Once you hit max revered (~17 days of play time). Then you can turn in the quests for bloodsail to get halfway through exalted. The last ~500 rep is killing a npc from newsman’s landing which gives 5 rep per kill. He’s on a 24-48hr respawn.
What about those ruins that have some pillars and an old road that can be found very close to kargath. It is full of earth elementals as well. I am surprised you did not mention those. Great video though and I really enjoyed it!
I've seen a bunch of people look at the deserty areas in wow and suggest they used to be green. But I wonder about some of he younger forests/swamps and am curious if they used to be plains/deserts.
@@Jediwarlock It's probably a lot harder to find any evidence when the trees/water covers everything. But I've just always been curious about that. Did Arathi used to be a forest? Was Dustwallow Marsh more like Westfall before or maybe a full on jungle? Your wow rocks videos have been very satisfying to watch.
I am always perplexed by the absurd numbers of apex predators like wolves and lions, dragons even, in wow zones compared to big prey and other critters. Not to mention the scavangers, what do they even eat? Adventurers???
That is a very good point! I suppose the most logical explanation is that there are supposed to be a lot more "critter" NPCs for them to feed on, but in the game right now there's only like 1% of what there needs to be.
@@Jediwarlock I think it was just not a consideration while creating the game, of course they wanted the players to kill cool, fearsome creatures and filled the zones with carnivores.
@@General12th it happened in the initial orc invasion. Guldan/nerzuhl and the other warlocks using fel corrupted the land and drained the life force from it, just like what happened with hellfire peninsula.

Yes I have before!! I don't really know that franchise but it's a neat find for sure :)
I absolutely love this kind of semi-scientific exploration of game world and world building. I'm looking forward to your future work, great stuff!
Thank you so much Middy! :) I appreciate the comment.
Grats on 400 subs :)
Haha, thanks! I've come a long way since then :D

My favourite series . i actually rewatch this videos lmao
Haha, thank you so much! I am glad you enjoy them :)

It's definitely a lonely zone, so if you're in the mood for grinding mobs and loot then it's the place for you! :)
mithril farming - so many loops around this zone.

Hey, that's awesome!! Never picked up on that little detail ;)
Wow, looking at it from now: 15k subscribers!
Yeah! We've come a long way! :)
Just found this, keep doing what you're doing man
Great video! I never played WOW but you did such a great job on this documentary, I found it intriguing.
I love the concept for this series!
Thanks! I’m glad people are enjoying this different perspective on the world of WoW :)
Love this content. I love the world of Azeroth so much and any chance to explore just brings joy
Thank you very much! Thinking about making a "Season 2" of WoW Rocks in Northrend, so keep an eye out for that sometime in the future! ;)
Amazing stuff! Even more reasons to love the old zones. I once made a tier list with all wow zones, and placed most classic zones high up there.

This has become my new headcanon, amazing work!
Thank you very much! :D
I love fantasy science plus the nostalgia of this game. Good stuff.
Thank you very much! I am interested in making more of these in the future :)
Whoa. What a great video! So immersive. I'm now more versatile on a fictional world I don't visit anymore and I loved every minute.
Haha, I'm glad! :)
really appreciate your world analysis
Thank you! :)
Awesome content man, keep it up
Thank you! I'm definitely wanting to go back and make more WoW Rocks videos in the future :)
now at 11k subs! :D loving this kind of wow content
Thank you so much! :)
Loving all your videos!
Helped me pass the time at work. Keep up the amazing work.
Will do! Thanks :)
The few people that grind Bloodsail rep to exalted get a real feel for it. The place becomes seared into the mind.
Very good point! Badlands is definitely more of a solo, grindy zone which some people are just into I guess! :)
Oh yeah you have to kill that one scientist there or something in classic right? Or are you talking about the extra steamwheedle town that Cata added?

This guy know badlands was a swamp that got blasted by fel?
Where did you get that information? Are you think of the Blasted Lands?
Oh wow, I have not heard about that part of the history! I could definitely see that happening :)
Um.
*I* didn't know the Badlands used to be a swamp that got blasted by fel. Can you provide a source for this?

That was the blasted lands, the Blasted Lands was basically the Swamp of Sorrows prior to the orc invasion.
