I remember this song back at Matagofie Mt Wellington SAOG in Auckland. Suliveta wrote it because our Pastor at the time Oselise Scanlan ahd his Faletua refused Suliveta’s request to marry their daughter Lina as she was only 15 and he was 29. But as with God’s plan, they ended up being married and had 3 beautiful kids that I’d always look after and bully lol. Sadly and tragically, Suliveta died in a car crash in 1985. Was one of the most sad and heartbreaking funerals. Miss you bro Veta. No doubt you’re proud of your children Scanlan, Loto and Oselise and wife Onolina ❤️
George fou, was it even legal to marry someone that young, or did they marry a few years later? Also, it sounds like he’s criticizing the girl’s parents harshly and justifying his love by quoting scripture. I don’t know, but in some countries, this is considered pedophilia. But, perhaps you could enlighten me.
Suliveta should know better than that , he graduated from the Bible college B-4 he move to New Zealand , how can you look at a 15yr child and you are 29 , SIN,Sin.. we call it child molester ... No heart feelings to anyone , but I will kill you if you try that to me ..I heard about this story about the song, but I didn't know she was only 15... Love the music ! Very talented , I have been big fan since I hear his beautiful music.. No hate please .. RIP uso..
I never forget Suliveta Kurene and his beatiful voice. he is a good servant of God and a beautiful gospel singer too. I loved his beautiful voice & all of his gospel songs that he wrote to show his love to God. Thanks for sharing Tuitele. God bless!

I really don't understand much about samoan songs, but when my partner was explaining to me what this song means, i sort of had to listen to it time after time to actually try and make out what it actually means. I get what it means now. The way this song has been written is pretty good i thought.
Thank you all for your kind comments. It is true that Suliveta wrote this about how he was treated and how people reacted when they found out about the relationship which is a normal reaction to most of us Samoans. But I just want to give you the correct information, Suliveta died at the age of 29. He was born in 1959 and died in a car accident in 1988, yes he was still young when he died. The age gap between him and his wife wasn't that big, the only concern at the time was, she was still at school. With all respect to you all and espcially Scanlan, Lotolelei and Suliveta Jr (Sulivetas) and their mum, I have decided not to go into details but I just wanted to correct this ma lo'u faaaloalo lava. Ae faafetai ia te outou uma ona o loo fiafia pea e faalogo i pesega a si o'u uso. GOD BLESS, Kurene
