Time for some major dog training ! I spent time training my Sheltie pup when I got him at 7 months old ...with the help of his breeder, and he was a joy the rest of his 13 yr old life. I miss him so much!
Wow, this was the highlight of my week! You are so lucky to live there, with all the animals, wild and domesticated. I had to laugh so much when you discovered them digging in that tub of peat! Thank you so much for taking your viewers on this walk. Much appreciated!!
I feel you with the dogs in the soil bags! Our Boxers never miss an opportunity to get to the soil bags. So frustrating... Every time I think they understand those are off limits, they prove me wrong! Your property has came so far, since I first started watching. Love all the improvements.
If you want to break them from eating the eggs, go out first without them and put hot red pepper on the eggs and then let the dogs find them and that will cure them from eating eggs. It won't hurt them, but their mouths will burn a little and they will drink water. The hay field and the orchard look good. You got a shank end ham and it will be good.
Hi Evan and Rebecca! My mom’s parents grew up and went to college (Southern Illinois Normal School) in your area of Illinois. It’s fun for me to relate to your climate and terrain and imagine what it was like for my grandparents who lived there in the late 1800’s. They both became school teachers. BTW, alfalfa produces pretty little purple flowers. That might have been the flower crop you saw in the spring. I really enjoy your farm and content. Thanks, Rebecca, for being on the front lines of the health battles we all face. Nurses are heroes!
Very enjoyable video. I got a good chuckle watching your dogs and actually laughed out loud when you noticed them in the peat moss. Good thing you are such an easy going guy😊. Beautiful property.
Evan, a trick I learned from my dad in his later years about stimulating fruit production was to flail a tree with a chain. He had several tangerines that never produced and he read about this technique…and it really worked great. It’s a form of shock just don’t overdo it or the loss of bark will kill the trees. The spring after he flailed these 2 they put out fruit like crazy and continued doing so for as long as he lived and for another 10 years that my sister lived there.
Purple deadnettle is not native to the US and is easy to pull out by hand Some uses include - (1) the early spring shoots can be eaten in a salad. Chickens also like it (2) medicinal purposes include making salves for joint pain, poultices for skin wounds and tinctures for seasonal allergies. Some people also drink it as tea for sore throats.
My folks tilled the asparagus patch real early in the spring right after the snow melted here in Minnesota. It helps to keep the weeds down and in the fall they would put manure on the patch. Loved the dogs antics..... You need to get another!!!!
The pups are so cute, happy and playful. The Stivers homestead in Kentucky put goats, chickens, ducks, and g. hens altogether during the day and at night they have individual homes within the same gated ground. They call it the zoo. It is wonderful.
You need to put some of them broken branches and with the goats they will eat the bark off of it and is good for them and the hay Field is looking good 👍👍👍👍
In this crazy often violent world that we are subjected to everyday on television, other media etc. it is so nice to see that there is still the real world out there. With pleasant happy people and animals. Thank you for a glimpse of sanity. Best wishes to you and yours.
I understand the hospital that Rebecca works at is an hour away. That’s a long drive, there and back every day. Great video, lots of projects for you Evan.
OMG that ham looks good! The dogs will calm down and stop chewing on so much stuff after they're through teething. Australian Shepherds and Boarder Collies are working dogs and need jobs to do to keep them out of trouble. If they don't have a specific job they will "entertain" themselves with what ever they can find. lol
I am so glad to see that I am not the only one with crazy Aussies mine like digging in the dirt and running around together to. Yours are a younger than my two we also have a black tri female and a blue merle male best dogs ever super busy and super smart
Some apple trees need more Calcium, Honey Crisp, for example, is just one of them. Add Calcium right away as far out as the drip line, and again this Fall and you’ll see some blooms next next Spring. The same is true for Plum trees.
Another very entertaining video, the dogs are GREAT, lovely to see their escapades. The apple tree with no blossom, it does not have LOADS of leaves, which would be over fertilising. So it IS a pruning issue
I've had apple and pear trees that would never bloom and was told that they were sterile. I finally took them out after 7 years and put new ones in and within 3 years, they were a blooming !
Great video, Evan. I’m about an hour and a half South of you. We are so over this rain and cold snaps. Today was perfect. Loved seeing your puppies having fun. Thanks!
So refreshing to see your farm and the animals especially those cheeky puppies, remember when your kids started crawling and everything went up, welcome back to the future with these adorable little rebels. Thanks for teasing us with that ham Evan, does look so moist and tasty. Happy Days !!!
Whatever you are doing on your country acres I enjoy. All your projects are interesting and informative but your strolls around the property are very zen.💓 Having your pups with you is like having unruly 3 yrs olds. 😂😂 Full of wonderment and discovery..
You have such a wonderful place. I know what you mean about just taking a walk. I do the same thing on our property, and each time I notice something different, not to mention the more frequent sightings of wildlife.
I enjoyed the video, so peaceful. Those dogs are something else.....lol. Trick for the geese, if you come across a nest, don't remove the eggs, just give them a shake and put them back, shaking scrambles the inside but the geese don't know they are not viable and will keep nesting, if you remove the eggs they will just lay more.
This was my favorite video in a long time. Loved the stroll around the property. I'm always curious what y'all are doing up there in that front part. Here we use one wire electric fencing around our cattle pastures. But you do need some sort of small corral to herd them into when they need doctoring, etc. Please take us on a property tour once a month.
,love you both for all your hard work ethic s , please keep the videos coming,,about your apples trees ,try and get an apple tree called a bramely apple tree ,, good for pies ect , really nice ,take care both ,,
Back when I was a young man we used to have kegger partys every labor day weekend and we used to have a pig roast so we would have the pig cured just injected when that hog was done it tasted just like a ham pulled outta the oven it had the salty taste to it so an hour later the beer would flow great video of you sharing you farm!😎
We did the same thing and for a bunch of drunks, the pig always came out fantastic. Or maybe we were just to drunk to know the difference. Still, it was a good time.
Absolutely beautiful piece of property, that was my reward after a long hard work day, just walking around and enjoying everything that was accomplished, great video 👍
How big is the pond? It is a nice view from the house, watching the ducks and geese. You and Rebecca have a beautiful homestead. You have a lot of pasture for your animals and the grass is so pretty and green. Take care and I love watching your videos and the projects you are doing. You both are blessed.
The dogs with the duck eggs remind me of our old doberman who would steal our free-range chicken's eggs and eat them under the front of the minivan in the shade. There was always a pile of shells there and we had a farty dog that evening 😊 Our duck got stepped on by one of the horses last winter, and we bandaged her up and she is fine now -- healed right up! And lastly, our Honeycrisp apple tree did not even bloom for five years because it got sun scalded the first winter then had cedar apple rust every year after that -- except for last year. Last year we got dozens of massive apples!
You probably already know this, but if your going to put a fence around the apple orchard to keep animals out, it should be about 8' if you have deer. This speaking from experience, I've seen deer inside fence lines, they can clear an 8'. Wondering if you've had a chance to get any turning in yet now that you have a Worksop set up in the one barn. Keep the videos coming. Love those dogs of yours, remind me of a couple I use to have
It sound a little crazy but old wise tale goes if you want to shock a tree into production just wack the base of the tree with a ball bat. If you are not going to give the tree but a couple more years I’d give it a try.
Nice long video. Thank you for sharing. Those dogs are hilarious!! I'm surprised that you are able to keep all of your trees in the pots like that on the picnic table without the dogs complete destroying them
Your Apple tree that isn't producing may need some of the P in NPK that is in fertilizer analysis. The P promotes blossoms, fruit, and roots in plants and trees. Sometimes trees need an iron supplementation to produce. Especially nut trees like chestnut trees. A relative of mine corrected his fruit tree producing problem with iron supplementation. A soil analysis may be helpful to see if where your tree is located is missing a mineral. Hope that helps. I enjoy your videos and appreciate your attitude toward becoming as self sufficient as possible. Your farm tour and taking us along was enjoyable. Occasionally a good walk with the dogs has got to do a person some healthy physical, mental and spiritual rejuvenating goodness. Thank you for sharing. God bless.☝🙏💪👉...
Put you some wire up around the area of the pond were the duck nest is , so it will keep the dogs from getting the eggs and let the duck raise you some baby ducks ...
Watch close the Aspergrass, dogs and coyotes like to eat the tops while they are tender. Used to raise aspergrass in California, and had to put one of my farm hands in the field at night to shoot them otherwise they would decimate the crop. Wild rabbits was also a problem. Had to till it under when State Gov cut off our water..

Buddy, the dogs aren't the problem. They need training, to be brought up right, or you'll pay, for their not knowing. Good luck with the dogs.
The benefit of having the chickens in with the goats is they’ll keep the tick population down and off of them... guinea hens are great for that too
Tried Guinea hens they don,t come back to the coop. Lost them to something or they went on a walkabout.
Beautiful wildlife. All your animals are so well cared for. Your pups are in a devilish stage...they are so darn cute. 🥰🌟
Hi.... Thank you for sharing your video 🎥👍👍👍

You have such a beautiful home.....enjoy.
Beautiful piece of property. Thanks for showing it to us.
Sure is greening up nice..! Just beautiful. The old pig pen sure cleaned up nice. The garden looks great now get to work!! 🌿🌱🍀
Thank you for sharing this beautiful day with us. 💜
Wonderful property. Always love seeing little Maggie. I'm sure i am not the only one envious of the homestead.
In this crazy often violent world that we are subjected to everyday on television, other media etc. it is so nice to see that there is still the real world out there. With pleasant happy people and animals. Thank you for a glimpse of sanity. Best wishes to you and yours.
Your place is looking good, Evan... Thanks for the walk....
I understand the hospital that Rebecca works at is an hour away. That’s a long drive, there and back every day. Great video, lots of projects for you Evan.
Nice relaxing video. Thanks for sharing👍👍👍
Before you remove the apple tree. Try grafting the branches with one's that have bloomed.
OMG that ham looks good! The dogs will calm down and stop chewing on so much stuff after they're through teething. Watching your dog dig in the box of peat moss actually gave me the giggles this morning. Ah the joys of raising puppies. Your property is beautiful❤️
I love your farm it nice.
Absolutely beautiful homestead. You and your wives hard work is inspiring. Love the vids
Evan, rather than replacing the unproductive apple tree, you may consider grafting from a productive tree onto the otherwise healthy dud.
I am so glad to see that I am not the only one with crazy Aussies mine like digging in the dirt and running around together to. Yours are a younger than my two we also have a black tri female and a blue merle male best dogs ever super busy and super smart
Very nice place. You could put up steel t-posts 7ft and electric fence around the apples trees. We had to do that with our garden.
Dogs are beautiful!
Thats awesome i love your place god bless thanks alot for a great video!!
Beautiful homestead.

Dog projects are so much fun and are usually your priority for the day. Farm looking good.
Love watching you guys.
Even I just watched your video y’all have such a beautiful property it’s so peaceful and quiet
Thanks for sharing
God Bless
I so enjoyed this walk video. Was relaxing and you could almost smell the fresh air. Thank you for a special moment of time.
Another very entertaining video, the dogs are GREAT, lovely to see their escapades.

A little slice of heaven you got there
Glad you are posting videos.

Well I get some more of that fence and use my Gots clear out and cut down brush they’ll clear it up 6 foot high
I enjoyed the video, so peaceful. Those dogs are something else.....lol. Great video, very relaxing & the dogs are just great. Keep working at it, you will get there eventually. Stay safe.
Love this type of video. Every one needs a break. Hope you do more! Property looks fantastic!

Appreciated all of the updates. Loved, loved, loved your co hosts Sydney and Scout. You guys have your hands full with those two for a while!!
Beautiful farm. Looks like you got everything in control. Love those Blue Heelers. Their a good farm dog, and a great companion.
Such a beautiful property. I really enjoy it when you give tours. The dogs crack me up.🐓🐓🐓
It looks good! Proud for you !
Beautiful..
Wonderful walkabout vlog, thank you, Evan. FYI, the Stivers Homestead also has birds and goats together and it seems to work well. Cheers, Ardith
scott just loves you
Love the Dogs and know what its like with them growing up having experienced similar behaviour over the years , great video, take care and stay safe
Great video! I really enjoy the property tours and updates. I hope to achieve what y’all have there what a beautiful place
Great video, love the property and wildlife, keep it up
Such cute dogs
Great walkabout Evan, that ham looked delicious. The place is really coming along and looks so good. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.
You probably already know this, but if your going to put a fence around the apple orchard to keep animals out, it should be about 8' if you have deer. This speaking from experience, I've seen deer inside fence lines, they can clear an 8'.

It sound a little crazy but old wise tale goes if you want to shock a tree into production just wack the base of the tree with a ball bat. If you are not going to give the tree but a couple more years I’d give it a try.
If you pick off half of the flowers on the apple tree, you get bigger and better apples but less amount.
When you fuss at the dogs Scout shakes his head 😂 he doesn’t want to hear that!
very well done.
Peaceful, like it, keep going!
Just subscribe to you channel and say hello from Italy. You both guys amazing.
Oh puppy....
That alfalfa will be ready to cut in about 2 weeks and the next cuttings will be even better and thicker !
Your hay field is beautiful. Does it have an aroma when it is green?
You can save duck eggs by making a floating duck nest. Tie with a rope so the dogs can not get them. Pull the rope to collect. Just my thoughts
I think that you are going to have a nice hay field, the first cut is going to be good
Your dogs are beautiful 🙂
Love your vids.
We had a duck with a bum leg. He lived like 13 years.
Nice long video. Thank you for sharing. Those dogs are hilarious!! I'm surprised that you are able to keep all of your trees in the pots like that on the picnic table without the dogs complete destroying them

I personally prefer that something did not lick my face that uses their toung for toilet paper. They are beautiful dogs and great companions.
Not a dog person are ya ?
What's the news on the mice??

Love the property
May I suggest you think about the birds that like apples.
