- We've all seen the vintage Shure 55 in videos, maybe even on stage, but how does it stack up against the most widely used mic of all time: the Shure sm58?

Honestly modern microphones all sound pretty good so as this mic is not really designed for studio use I’d say the looks actually matter more. But different people have different opinions, I just like to look fabulous on the stage 😎
It is nice to look awesome on stage! As an audio engineer, I can say there are definitely mics a I prefer to use over others. But as long as you stay away from the super cheap mics, you should be ok.
Super 55 more definition in high frequencies
It should be noted that the Super 55 has the same capsule as the Beta 58, not the SM58.
Great info! I was not aware of that.
I have used the regular 55 for years. Main reason I got it was because of the switch. I would try the super but, like a switch.
We had to stop using the regular because of the switch. Kept turning off mid performance.
@mattingramsound I am also the lead guitar player so, stand mounted that has not been an issue.
Thank you
Thank you! Hope it helped!
Mix saved the vocals. good work.
Thanks!
Yeah, style over substance. Nothing wrong with that. Looking cool is ok too.
Looking cool is very important, but, the mic does sound pretty good too!
@@mattingramsound Yes, they are great mics.
Sounds the same
Were you listening on a phone? They definitely don't sound the same.
