    I can’t believe I’ve played this long and never tried to put loaders and unloaders in the air, I’ve always treated them like containers. Learn something new every day

      Yeah it's a little counter-intuitive, but useful to be able to put them wherever.

    This helped me realize what “sweep only” meant. Always thought it meant “the trash” goes in there “the sweep”. But it means the stuff you select with the sweep tool.

    There are a few key points that make rails different from pipes and I think they need to be addressed:
    - Solids on a rail won't ever merge. This is sometimes a problem if circulating them for cooling, as very small packets (mg) don't transfer heat well and can fill the rail over time.
    - Solids can safely change state on a rail without breaking the rail itself, as seen on the example with the ice, unlike liquids or gases on pipes.
    - When a solid on a rail changes state, the packt remains on the rail as an empty box, and will occupy space until it reaches some sort of solid input.

    I used to use this to fuel coal generators because it’s painful to watch duplicants to ignore them even on yellow alert, but now i try to get natural gas as my power source ASAP
    Very helpful of getting rot away from polluting my food and to transport my food
    I will probably implement more of this into my games and this video will probably help me

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, coal generators have a weird loading setting which means it's easier to do with autosweepers. Nat gas is a good alternative and is more sustainable anyway so a good choice.

    • @alamrasyidi4097
      @alamrasyidi4097 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      coal is only loaded when there are batteries storing less power than the generator's setting, _and_ the generator is also enabled. if your batteries are full or your smart battery is disabling the generator, dupes wont load it even if the generator is completely empty. upgrade to autweeper setup once youre getting multiple generators

    idk how I haven't noticed this before, but the vacuum gun that the dupes use is the same one that's on the autoloader

  • @channelaoe3830
    @channelaoe3830 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    The worst thing is that dupes will steal the storing job from autosweepers when they are idle which lengthen the delivery time when the conveyer belt is made to go through lots of walls. If only autosweepers had higher priority than dupes' supplying job.

    • @peterthegamer9334
      @peterthegamer9334 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      In most cases you can develop a system that can work without dupes. Then just shutting the dupes out of the system to avoid them interacting with it.

    • @alamrasyidi4097
      @alamrasyidi4097 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@peterthegamer9334 make a room with a locked door, put a dispenser right next to the door, since dupes can reach through doors to deposit items, they will put things in, but the dispenser drops them out of reach. you can even set up a weight sensor to check the amount of items deposited and add another door connected to the sensor to lock itself when enough material is deposited, preventing the dupes to reach the dispenser at all

    Ohhh, de Auto-Sweepers work with priorities.
    I was always wondering why the sweepers don't do anything. I've managed to get to the midgame the first time in a stable base wanted to try out rails, but it didn't work. Sadly ONI doesn't provied a tutorial on rail systems like water pipes.

    Was trying to figure out how to send small amounts of food to the second planetoid regularly via teleporter.... Rather than the entire food supply (:
    I was trying to use "allow manual use" and have a container set on the other side set to only accept certain items, at a small max capacity. Will the dupes load a conveyor to the other world with every accessible material, dumping on the floor via chute- or just what the boxes on the other planet are "asking" for? That's what I'm trying to figure out. No possibility of a "loop" because it's the other planetoid!

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't exactly worked out the way to do this and not have the food not spoil, but from a shipping point of view I think the best way is to use a fridge set to accept small amounts of food. This would then have to be sent to an interplanetary launcher by an autosweeper and conveyor loader. Send the signals between the planetoids with the automation broadcaster and receiver. Then you'll probably need some more automation signalling to make sure the fridge only gets restocked after enough time, so you don't get multiple requests from the same signal.

    5:34 is the cooled metal output into brine/saltwater to cool it down further?

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That is the idea there, yes. Adding some liquid just helps make a bit of a temperature buffer and helps the cooling loop conduct. You could likely get away without that if you wanted.

    • @alamrasyidi4097
      @alamrasyidi4097 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@GCFungus isnt that unnecessarily heating the coolant? constructed buildings are always at 45 degrees celcius if the materials used is hotter, in my experience. unless if you want to feed plug slugs, i guess cooler temperatures is desireable

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @alamrasyidi4097 I don't think the limit is 45 as I've definitely had buildings come in hotter. Generally cooling it helps for dupes without atmo suits and carrying it through liquid locks. But you can definitely get away without it if you use it carefully, so up to you.

    really wish there was a minimum setting for how much the autosweeper picks up, extremely inefficient that it loads the first 1k kg, then gets stuck loading only 80kg each load

    • @geeksdo1tbetter

      You can use a timer sensor, to force the auto sweeper to wait until the loader is empty again.

    Could you make videos of the shipping things but for farming and ranching pleaseeeee??? It’s just not clicking for me tbh

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure what I could add that I haven't already covered. For farming you want autosweepers to cover all the plants (make sure they can reach the tiles), and then they need access to a conveyor loader to take whatever harvest you make away to where you need it (usually a kitchen or deep freeze food storage, or both), and a conveyor receptacle to store whatever solid fertilizer the plants need. For ranching, you want to at a minimum take all eggs out of the ranch with an autosweeper and conveyor loader, and it's also easy to use this to remove any extra products too (that are excreted or sheared). Some ranches can also be supplied with a conveyor receptacle if the critters are eating solid food, such as hatches.

    How can we ship bottles? e.g. to remove them from an algae terrarium and emptier elsewhere

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can't move bottles directly and the only way is to empty them in a bottle emptier. You can also control it more carefully by setting the bottle emptier to sweep only, then sweeping the bottles you don't want.

    If a solid melts on a rail where does it go?

    • @GCFungus
      @GCFungus  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It will turn onto a liquid on the same tile if it can. If that tile is behind a solid tile, then it should push the liquid out, starting at the top and going clockwise if those tiles are also blocked. If the entire area is blocked then I'm not sure if it looks further or just deletes the material.
