Good deep dive. Couple of corrections: the Jeff crane incident happened in summer 2020 but it hadn’t been fully revealed before David made those apologies in spring 2021. Important fact to mention is that Jeff is no longer friends with just about everyone in the vlog squad. Essentially the story is that after Jeff exposed David, David told them all to cut contact with them. Additionally David told Jeff that he would pay for all his medical bills and stuff that involved his eye treatment. After Jeff thinking that David had been paying his medical bills he would find out that he hadn't and it completely destroyed Jeff's credit and left him in a ton of debt. They are currently in a legal battle, but from watching Jeff's most recent video it appears that Jeff might have won the case and David could possibly be getting deported due to it. (Idk about the deported part, could have been a joke by Jeff but there is a chance.)
This is such a genius lazy format. Just have someone actually do the work, research, and present the slop in an engaging way, while you just sit there and look pretty while reacting to the story. This is peak content creation 😆
There is a lot of shit in general, but there was a big story about him purchasing alchohol for minors and being complicit in enabling one of his friends to sexually assault multiple girls. he also was an awful 'friend', jeff is lucky to survive and it was David being an absolute idiot and taking things too far ALWAYS that made it so that Jeff has had DOZENS of surgeries and is lucky that he survived. When Jeff was making his documentary about it, David and Natalie (his assistant and girlfriend) came over and were trying to demand that he cut things out because it made David look bad etc. The lawsuit is ongoing so we don't know all of it, but David is a bad person. He facilitated a lot of the harassment for Gabbie Hanna and she had a full on mental breakdown and still is struggling from it. He would constantly be awful to Trisha Paytas and when she attempted to take her life, he was trying to vlog her in the ER on a psych hold, and there are so many other people who were once in David's 'orbit' who have countless stories of him taking everything too far. He also would make his friends work for him for exposure meanwhile his content would get millions of dollars. Giving away a car is bad because that doesn't factor in if someone can afford the taxes, the insurance cost, car insurance, etc and he was just using that as a tax write off and a lot of the people who got them as 'gifts' ended up losing them because it'san incredibly irresponsible thing to do. He's just a dumb kid (when he popped off at least, now he's a grown adult) who took all the clout to the head and manipulated and used people constantly. He was never genuine in his 'philanthropy', it was all for clout but he also didn't even make attempts to pay the workers he was exploiting. He made a bunch of them get fully sky diving certified for a 30 second MAX 'bit' in a vlog in the same vlog where Jeff almost died. His videos were a max of 4 min and 20 seconds, and he paid for the skydiving but he made them all spend like 7 straight days jumping over 10 times a day to get certified, despite multiple of the group members being terrified and not wanting to do it but if they didn't do it, they'd be kicked from the group and unable to pay bills because linking them in the vlogs was the only semi-related money they could get, and he wouldn't even jump a SINGLE time.@@carnuatus

Hey man love your videos are you gonna do the SP7 deep dive I loved those guys and they had the same kind of skit vlogs that David dobrick had Nvm I just finished the video 😭

This divemas is gonna be something soecial for me. I loved david dobrik vlogs around may of 2018 right after i had graduated high school. I would literally fall asleep watching a playlist of all the voogs. Then one day poof all my interest left for the vlogs and when I did take note of david dobrik again he was getting cancelled for and 2020 was just beginning to happen. Needless to say i think the strongest part of his vlog is the parasocial and almost together your my freind kinda part of the vlog it really oulled me in at the time.
I randomly found Steve Suptic during COVID & I right before I watched this video saw that he now lives with Janet from OTV in the shorts section today. The algorithm is watching.
Used to make some good videos, but i always got a weird vibe off him. Doesnt care about other people that much, but keeps donating and helping out people to seem nice(atleast what it felt like). He always laughed when people got hurt and even when he did the hurting himself. He definitely prioritized his content over everything else.
Another correction is that the scene of the guys poking their heads into the bedroom while the SA was taking place, didn’t actually happen that way, they went the next day and no one was in there. It was staged. I don’t recall if Keff stayed around that day or left when Jason and Trisha did. Also Jeff has vehemently denied buying the alcohol from what I remember. Yes someone at Dirty Dom’s place bought the alcohol or it was already there and the underaged girls were given alcohol in that apartment and she was unable to consent because she was very intoxicated. Honestly I think anyone who stayed that day, and especially David should be charged as an accessory to SA.
I think it would have been more fair to show some more random funny bits of David Dobriks vlog before. Instead of diving in right away into all the fucked up stuff he did. Cause then this video (from Stanz) would have had a higher catharsis "oh looks like he's a funny guy" to "oh that's not good" and eventually "man that's fucked up if you really think about it" etc. It would have represented more accurately the different stages of how a David Dobrik fan felt.
David dobrik was the thing that showed me Cancel culture isn’t real unless you’re Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby levels. Never got into his content and thankfully never will
There was a documentary about this at SXSW. Casey was there, and some other folks. I felt physically ill throughout the movie, but that excavator scene was especially rough.
i worked at a rue21 in the mall in my town and one time david dobrik came in. he started pestering me about fragrance (perfume and shii) clearly not about to buy any just trying to annoy me so i told him to f*ck off. all the joy left his face and he just walked out. tbf i had no idea who the hell david dobrik was, what a creature
I genuinely think David Dobrik never got "cancelled" because none of the shit he did or filmed was truly malicious. Completely idiotic, in poor taste, and lacking in common sense for sure but I just don't think he's an inherently bad person. Obviously things may be different behind closed doors but his public image was good enough to survive the bad. If that makes sense.
Well I think it depends what you mean by malicious. I don't think he wanted to film SA or wanted to permanently maim his "friends", but the reality is he did film those things and released the videos of AT LEAST several of them. Gross and wilful negligence at the very least and largely for his own profit.
Are you serious? This dude used fame and money to manipulate people who are his “friends” and then blamed his friends for things he was basically forcing them to do. Did you watch the video?
@@unusallife6326 From an outside perspective but having seen some of the videos, no, no, I can see it. He was terribly negligent, and even in the same vlogs you could tell how careless and irresponsible he was. It was basically a bit that everyone called him crazy for how stupid of an idea something is. It's not surprising he'd do something stupid without him thinking he was manipulating anyone. I can see him not realizing he was even doing it, because he was doing it daily before any of the big controversy events. It was pretty clear, in the vlogs at least, he cared about consenting to be in a video too. Unfortunately, his view of consent was pretty skewed as we can tell. You can blame it on his stupidity and/or the people he hung out with indirectly affecting it. Many were easily swayed about things they didn't want to do, often, but end up saying yes and letting it go because they realize they were actually fine with it (And not regret it), which is a similar behavior you'd receive from someone who says yes reluctantly due to a power dynamic. That's not even considering some of his friends already did sus things, Dom being the prominent example. After receiving a lot of yeses, before and after a deed, despite a pushback of not wanting to do it at the moment, every video that escalated just made it worse, every day. It'd stand to reason he'd misstep when it came to human beings who weren't that close to him all the time, or an act that would actually cross the line. I can genuinely believe he thought a single yes was enough, as long as it was after or before the fact (aka when they're not drunk). There were a couple of videos that show he did in fact not upload things when he received a no (although he pushed for them) and bits he kept pushing to do that he didn't because that person it would befall on kept saying no (until they eventually agreed, which is another problem, but it at least shows he isn't full of ill will). Additionally, as a bonus, you could tell he didn't really stop his friends from doing stupid things, for better and for worse, he pretty much trusted anyone knew what they were doing after any party consented. He never had security measures ready for ANY of the stunts, and that was pretty well known as a reckless behavior of him. Of course, there's you know, not encouraging the stunts since there's no way anyone would approve it for cheap at a day's notice, just like you could also not encourage your friends to do stupid acts, especially ones that you wouldn't do yourself, but, again, that's negligence and irresponsibility, not exactly pure true malice.
I’m glad someone said this. He was a young kid who got huge, made some mistakes a lot of people would have in his shoes and wasn’t equipped with the emotional intelligence to deal with them perfectly at the time. You could tell he was the likable kid growing up who could make almost anyone laugh in any environment so in turn could convince people to do things for the sake of a laugh or a potential fun time even if they pushed back at first (like probably all of us have done to friends growing up assuming you played truth or dare with friends or convinced a college buddy to go out drinking if they didn’t want to at first). I can watch these documentaries and start to view him in a negative light just as easy as anyone else, but to act like most of his stuff wasn’t funny, good natured jokes amongst friends and he’s some evil human being is so bizarre to me after everyone loved him for so long.
I was terminally online during this era but I can say I have never once viewed any of this guy's videos. I feel like I made a good decision after watching this.
Hearing about all the dumb shit David Dobrik did was like a weight off my chest because I could finally say I never liked him. I just never had a reason before but he just seemed fishy as hell.
I don't believe Jeff and David are still friends. He came out with videos or on podcasts of him basically denouncing David. And I think he may be suing him too, but I can't fully remember. 42:37
8:45 the reason he shot him with a paint ball is becasue they had an ongoing bet and David got to shoot him 3 times random within a year, and he travels to Hawaii to shoot him with a paintball😅
Not to say this is a defence for his actions but I am 80% sure this guy has aspergers. One of the big affects of aspergers is not understanding social cues, this includes not understanding social dynamics, and not understanding the social cues people give off when something is going to far. The symptoms of aspergers vary greatly from person to person but this is one of the most common ones.
This has probably been brought up but David knew exactly what he was doing by filming himself asking Seth for consent. Besides the fact that he would have “proof” (which there was none) he knew that Seth would more likely say yes because the camera is shoved in his face. David expected Seth to act like how he did when he found out that it was Jason under the mask. He wanted him to forcefully accept and joke around but Seth didn’t and yet David ends the clip with him laughing as if it’s all light hearted. That is so manipulative and he has done this plenty of times. He pushes people to do stuff with the camera on and it usually ends with them jokingly calling him out for that. Everyone laughs and then it cuts to said person doing what he was pushing them to do.

Cause then this video (from Stanz) would have had a higher catharsis "oh looks like he's a funny guy" to "oh that's not good" and eventually "man that's fucked up if you really think about it" etc.
It would have represented more accurately the different stages of how a David Dobrik fan felt.
Idk dude David was never really all that funny, though?
David dobrik was the thing that showed me Cancel culture isn’t real unless you’re Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby levels. Never got into his content and thankfully never will
Madison Beer was in his vlogs too
Jeff wittek deep dive next
WE NEED MORE 4O MIN DIVES
Their Was Actual Footage Of Them In A Car Discussing The SA ....Thats Wild !
40:33 - to the chat, LLC’s are very important on TH-cam channels now
I KNEW what had happened to Jeff but I had never actually seen it until now. That's just terrible. I hope he wins against David.
There was a documentary about this at SXSW. Casey was there, and some other folks. I felt physically ill throughout the movie, but that excavator scene was especially rough.
divemas is literally keeping me going

David didn’t contact Jeff for months after almost killing him which is wild to do to your “friend”

He does the ludwig laugh 😭
Can't wait to watch the newborn Nathan Stanz learn all about the Chronicles of Dobrik
15:30 i grew up with a kid who's bike handle bars did the same thing but instead it punctured his intestines and fucked him up for a good while.
Nah, him almost killing Jeff has killed his career. And then buying alcohol for minors and then allowing one of his friends to SA him
Well I think it depends what you mean by malicious.
He's actually not still friends with Jeff. Jeff is currently trying to sue/ press charges against David
I was terminally online during this era but I can say I have never once viewed any of this guy's videos. I feel like I made a good decision after watching this.
Oooh sugar pine 7! I’m here for it
Hearing about all the dumb shit David Dobrik did was like a weight off my chest because I could finally say I never liked him. I just never had a reason before but he just seemed fishy as hell.
I don't believe Jeff and David are still friends. He came out with videos or on podcasts of him basically denouncing David. And I think he may be suing him too, but I can't fully remember. 42:37
Yeah the law suit is at LEAST 10 million. What David did to Jeff is so fucked
Please tell me you guys are finishing this trilogy lol y'all can't leave us hanging like that
this british guy is always so wrong about 70% of the stuff in these deep dives
8:45 the reason he shot him with a paint ball is becasue they had an ongoing bet and David got to shoot him 3 times random within a year, and he travels to Hawaii to shoot him with a paintball😅
Not to say this is a defence for his actions but I am 80% sure this guy has aspergers. One of the big affects of aspergers is not understanding social cues, this includes not understanding social dynamics, and not understanding the social cues people give off when something is going to far.
The symptoms of aspergers vary greatly from person to person but this is one of the most common ones.
Sugar pine 7 is gonna be so good
This has probably been brought up but David knew exactly what he was doing by filming himself asking Seth for consent.
ChrisMD deep dive please!
is Stanz going to react to the update about the completionist charity fraud?
