The USA had to beat them TWICE. They had to do it without an Army, No Navy, no Marine Corp., no Coast Guards, WOW! They beat England First in 1776 and again in 1812 when we got our flag and National Anthem. To do it, they had to be SMART, scary-freaking-smart and ORGANIZED. Get to the Moon first? The USA did that. Get to Pluto first....CHECK! EInstein need a home? Come on over! What is that Einstein..." NAZIs building an A Bomb! " ??? USA builds one first and drops an atom bomb on a Japanese city using THE Uranium that the NAZI's had shipped to Japan just before Germany lost the war. The USA, had NO nuclear weapon program AT ALL...went from NOTHING to a bomb at warp speed and cornered the market. The nation just attracts brilliance like no other in history...I mean, we are all from somewhere else...truth. But the USA has something in its essence, its core, its fiber, that is constantly reinventing the American Dynamic and peeling back new layers of something old and or making something new or unheard of....fact. Democracy has people in it, so no, it MUST have flaws.....but the US rises despite its human-self-component. England was the world's Premier Superpower at the times 1776 and 1812...France was a close second but had no useful Navy, no, so they could only help the USA so much. Yet, truly, without France, there would be no USA today...! The USA and the American people, were truly an idea whose time came and nothing could say them nay....nothing. Now if we could just get them to stop killing each other and end the ethnic, european descendant, neanderthal, protestant, evangelical, build-a-wall, tax dodging-Panama-Papers, greed and hate....oh well....there is no paradise where there are humans!
Very true. The US has accomplished more in it's short time than us. I find it even funnier that Harvard and Yale are ranked consistently at #1 and #2 on these polls and still are 400-600 years younger than Oxford or Cambridge. The UK reached it height prior to WW2. The US has no ceiling though. The sky is the limit for them.
I have had the good fortune of studying at Harvard and MIT in the US and Cambridge in the UK, and I can tell you that Cambridge is definitely on par with Harvard and MIT.
These rankings are ridiculous and pathetic-- and I say this as an American Ivy League graduate myself! The failure with "ranking" them internationally is that universities are structured differently in different countries and US states, yet the rankings stupidly give extra weight for the arbitrary set-up of (mainly) a few US and UK research universities. For ex: Across Europe, Japan, Korea, Canada, South America and even many US states, top research isn't done "on campus", instead it's done in industry labs or special institutes (like Max Planck institutes) where professors work and collaborate. But this research doesn't "count" since it's not technically "on campus"-- the Shanghai, Timer Higher Education and other rankings lists have failed to normalize for this factor, and thus arbitrarily "penalize" these countries and many US schools for a totally irrelevant reason! Also, many quality US public universities don't have their own medical or pharm school, instead they "team up" with med or pharm schools on separate campuses. Yet they, too, are falsely penalized for this on the lists since once again, their research isn't "on campus". It makes somewhat more sense to compare individual departments and their graduates, but the campus-wide university comparisons are totally laughable.
+MrViMichael bullshit. that's an elitist argument used by misinformed fools. Places like Harvard, Princeton, Yale... they offer MILLIONS in finiancal aid every year The only thing you need is perfect grades and ECs.
International Student Olympiads are actually the only objective tool for comparing the competitiveness of university students at the global level. Unlike school education, there is no global student assessment system like PISA, ILSA or PIRLS. Ranking of universities by number of weighted wins at international student olympiads: 1. Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Russia) - 13.40 points 2. University of Warsaw (Poland) - 12.06 3. Saint Petersburg State University (Russia) - 10.90 4. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia) - 10.65 5. ITMO University (Russia) - 9.50 6. University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) - 9.30 7. University of Zagreb (Croatia) - 8.90 8. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) - 8.53 9. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine) - 8.50 10. Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland) - 7.46 11. Novosibirsk State University (Russia) - 6.51 12. Comenius University Bratislava (Slovakia) - 6.40 13. National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) (Russia) - 6.20 14. Charles University (Czech Republic) - 6.10 15. Ghent University (Belgium) - 6.00 When evaluating the success of students' performance at the Olympiads using a weighted score, not only the number of victories of students and student teams is taken into account, but also the level of competition at each of the Olympiads. The advantage is given to the universities that took part in the Olympiads with the widest country coverage. The largest Olympiad is the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). It has the widest geographical coverage, with students from over 100 countries taking part. Over the past 10 years, universities from Russia have won this Olympiad and once won a university from China. MIPT, 2 times won prizes at the ICPC Programming Olympiad, and at the IMC Mathematical Olympiad for 5 years, its students received 38 awards. St. Petersburg State University, which took third place, has as many as 4 victories on ICPC for 5 years. The runner-up Warsaw University won prizes at ICPC all 5 years in a row. Of the 15 universities represented, only three do not have a single victory at the ICPC: the University of Amsterdam, Novosibirsk State University and Ghent University, however, the number of awards received by their students at the IMC is extremely high. Universities are the most successful in information technology and mathematics Olympiads, primarily ICPC and IMC: Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, St. Petersburg State University (Russia); University of Amsterdam (Netherlands); Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine); Ghent University (Belgium) and Zagreb University (Croatia). Universities most successful in natural sciences and engineering Olympiads: University of Toronto (Canada); Nanjing University and Xi'an Chiao University National University of Singapore; Georgia Institute of Technology and Washington University in St. Louis (USA); Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) and University of Liverpool (UK). Students from the University of Singapore have also repeatedly won prizes in various international humanitarian Olympiads, and students from both Chinese universities have won The Mathematical Contest in Modeling Olympiad in mathematical modeling. The most stable position is occupied by Shanghai Jiaotong University (China), Warsaw University and Jagiellonian University (Poland) - students of these universities have repeatedly won awards both in the field of information technology and at mathematical and natural science Olympiads. If we consider the victories of students at international Olympiads on a national scale, it turns out that the most successful Olympiad university community in the USA, Germany and the UK - their universities have received awards in all four areas of knowledge over 5 years. Most of the universities in these countries, however, have victories in only one of the considered student Olympiads. The exceptions are Cambridge, Harvard and Pennsylvania universities - students of these universities have won awards at four different Olympiads in 5 years; University of Glasgow, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Colorado at Boulder (winning three different Olympiads) and Yale University, which has won two Olympiads. Students from the universities of Singapore, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Argentina and China became winners and prize-winners of Olympiads in three out of four areas, students from universities in another 18 countries - in two out of four.
Whoever put this up isn't all that smart not to know there are other great universities elsewhere on this planet. It should read: Best English language universities.
Mary Foster These are the most prestigious universities in the world. I'm sure there are great uni's elsewhere that give students excellent opportunities and have great lecturers and professors, but the fact remains that the names of these institutions carry more international weight than any other. Perhaps a better title of this video would be "Most Prestigious/Acclaimed Universities in the world"
+john sialana Except they're not. Many US schools for ex. are left off this list because they don't have their "own" medical or pharm schools and collaborate with offsite med schools-- which brings down their rankings since the research and projects aren't technically "on campus". Even worse, a lot of the top tech research in the world is done in off-campus institutes like Max Planck Institutes in Germany or equivalents in Holland and France, yet again, this research doesn't "show up"-- even though Germany dominates in many of these fields! These rankings lists are worse than useless, they're misleading.
+stefan No, they absolutely are not, these sorts of lists use arbitrary and ridiculous reasons that have nothing to do with actual quality of research and teaching, for example whether research or grant money is "on campus" versus "off campus" (for example US universities that collaborate with medical schools on separate campuses, or German universities that collaborate with Max Planck Institutes off campus-- this research doesn't "count" in the rankings which is laughably misleading).
yes that is a very interesting major. I am doing that at uc berkley and I had to take ap biology and ap chemistry in high school to get prepered. i would also recommend that you do good in the SAT and take ap classes!
Also, these aren't arbitrary rankings. Some ranks use criteria like selectivity, retention, graduation rates etc, while some rank the scholarly work of faculty and alumni, or rank using reputation as rated by other academe. But all these rankings do come out to be the same, (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UChicago, MIT, Stanford always come out as the top 10) lending some credence to the fact that these universities take in great students, and produce even greater ones...
What is the source for this poll? The QS ranking of the world's best universities & the Times Higher Education ranking are the 2 major polls for ranking the top universities in the world. There's no reference for this poll listed. US News & World Report uses the QS poll to rank the best universities in the world. The validity of the Times Higher Education poll has always been questionable. I believe the QS poll is considered the most valid poll for ranking the world's best universities.
believeitspossible oxford university is #1 then its Cambridge University #2 and then is Massachusetts Institute of Technology #3 I literally just checked 😂 so yeah Massachusetts institute of technology is third place right now
MIT may be above Cambridge but in terms of bragging rights,I think Cambridge tops it;both Sir Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin were ex students at Cambridge.
REMEMBER FOLKS AND YOUNG KIDS. They say they are the best universities. But says who? Them selves? By you having a degree of a certain university doesn't make you more or less successful that's your character and how well you overcome obstacles. Your success is not dictate by where you went to school. I know people that graduated from almost none existing schools that do way better then Harvard students
The smartest person here who are not the people who can get in to one of these unis, but the one who can answer the name of this song, what's the song pls?
+Bien Voir Pour Mieux Savoir no all unis in the UK cost the same, plus you don't pay if straight any it gets taken out of your salary in segments once you start earning a high enough wage
+Luxion479 £30k is actually a lot esp when you add 3 years living costs on top. University fees have increased dramatically for little additional quality improvement to show for it. Just selling a brand for your CV.
Where's the updated QS ranking? The one in the video is outdated. Okay, thugs that are spamming need to stop. This video is about the QS ranking of the world's best universities. Everyone has the right to know which universities are ranked the highest in the updated poll. Anyone can go to the QS website or to the US News & World Report ranking of the world's best universities to see it. So why spam?
Well said my dear sir.I was getting suffocated by the demonic materialistic comments when your comment saved me.A true wise comment! You have graduated from the Grand University Of Life!
Your are factually right. However, going to study in those places is no guarantee that they are the best. They have just marketed themselves better and sell people a "dream" or "illusion". India has some of the best Universities from which most of these listed Universities go to recruit. Some of the best technology of our time has come from Scandinavian Universities of which not one made the list. Russian and German ,French Universities produced the best mathematicians since recorded academic history and not one is on the list. The reason is that in all the above countries,University is not a commodity nor a business and so they dont invest in marketing, advertising and sales which is what UK and US Universities focus mainly on.
Columbia should be ahead of U Chicago, and MIT. An Ivy League school in the middle of NEW YORK CITY, the whole world is at your fingertips, can't get much better than that.
David Ngoie I doubt the difference between top 10 and top 50 is very large. They're all great universities considering there are thousands of universities in the world.
The source for this video is the QS ranking of the world's best universities, but it's OUTDATED. Thanks for posting the updated QS ranking which is also the ranking of the world's best universities published by US News & World Report. The Times Higher Education ranking is a little ridiculous in comparison. The reputation ratings alone are way off base for the Times poll. The QS poll is the most valid poll. That's why it's also published by US News & WR. Again, thanks for posting the results.
@justsomeguyman what rankings have you been reading? Cambridge consistently comes in the top 8 year on year. It has the greatest number of Nobel laureates in the world!
Most developed countries have later post-master elite selection and moderately funded public universities or very few elite places as India or France. Cambridge, CalTech, Stanford and MIT are just excellent in all their subjects with significantly higher research budgets and industry tasks. A bachelor from the MIT is not really impressive if nothing follows up, but these universities are really much better than ours, in almost all aspects. In rare cases it still can be a dumb education bubble.
the top 2 university is cambridge and harvard in 2015 but actually happen to these two in 2016 i heard the best is massechuset and stanford rightnow? why did these 2 drop down.
This is not right, i am ok with the begining or the schools in it, but the ranking is not right. Cambridge is maybe the best, but you totally forgot (and it should be second then) to include West Point in this video, which was ranked by Forbes as the best college in the America.
Yeah, I mean this list in particular is more "Britaincentric". The thing about US schools is that the immigrants who go to these universities fuel the fire of school grades and reputation around the world. It's one of the reasons why in many cases better to get a degree from a university in America, because people around the world will know of those universities.
Well, John Harvard graduated from the University of Cambridge :)
I'm actually mind-blown. The architecture of these Universities are amazing!
Thats almost the best part about them that derives inspiration. The rest is just stupid reputation and academic stress.
Cambridge, UCL or Stanford my targets for my Phd :)
Wish you all the very best 🙌🏻
You should go for Cambridge
Lol, Oxford has existed for 5 times as long as the USA has been a country, crazy
ikr

I've got an interview at Imperial in two weeks - wish me luck!
How was your interview?
10 years and I am waiting for the name of the music!
What is this beautiful song in the background? It's amazing, source, please!
Lol, I found this video saved basically because of the music. Shazam is not smart enough to tell what that is :(
How to study in one of these university?
Expectation: you have to be very smart
Reality: you have to be rich.
I second you
+MrViMichael bullshit. that's an elitist argument used by misinformed fools. Places like Harvard, Princeton, Yale... they offer MILLIONS in finiancal aid every year The only thing you need is perfect grades and ECs.

False, I can testify
+MrViMichael loser mentality.
Hope i can get admission in one of these universities. Ameen
Wow! This is great.Aside from finance, the best is achieved through your studies.
I liked the way this video has been presented with attracting beckground music.

Great music and a well made list
Got emails from University of Chicago. I'm still a junior in high school but am definitely considering about applying.

Anyone else who doesnt want to study in the United states or the uk?
Trollerbitch69 Exactly.

But why you don't want!!!
Urvashi Sharma me being a UK citizen can answer that.
1.High fees for locals and foreigners
2.Frequent attacks in the UK

At least it's better than studying here in the Philippines
Name of the music say me please, I need this music for my impiration

Wow, great job UK!
That's a good video. I'll be right back.
I need this song for my videos, does someone know? Many people have already asked
COMMUNITY COLLEGE ALL THE WAY!!👊🏼
clear video. not just pictures. thanks
My kids will go to oxford and harvard by GODs mercy... IJN ,Amen...
Yeah, it's definitely Cambridge. Painful to say as an Oxford man but it takes the top spot!

The validity of the Times Higher Education poll has always been questionable. I believe the QS poll is considered the most valid poll for ranking the world's best universities.
Here is a good question what school is the hardest to get into and how does one get into this great university? Steven M.Fanale
Here's the updated QS World University Rankings for top two:
1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
2. University of Cambridge
Oxford is top now
believeitspossible oxford university is #1 then its Cambridge University #2 and then is Massachusetts Institute of Technology #3 I literally just checked 😂 so yeah Massachusetts institute of technology is third place right now

Berkeley, Columbia, Cornell, Caltech?
Not so sure about Caltech but I will definitely take Berkeley, Columbia or Cornell rather than imperial, UCL in the top ten.
gatech???....:-( :-(
Caltech is better than UC Berkeley any day.
I think still not elite in comparison to these
Starting my degree at University College London in September! :D
Same here :-) See you in September!
Hopefully! Since feb I've come to the realisation I'll probably get A*AB instead of AAA though
I think that might be okay because it's really about UCAS points.
I wish it would be, but I know people who didn't get in with A*A*B :/
Seriously? That's mental. Why don't you think that you'll get the A, if you don't mind my asking?
Good Information for international students
I like South Wales University very much. I hope to get money for the online program!
Where is UC Berkley ?????
I'm applying for two of these: UCL and Oxford, to study Chemical Physics and Chemistry. So nervous for all my admissions tests, interviews etc
Michael Harding ....hey good luck bro... I completed my physics graduation & how can I apply there?
How are you now?
so what happened??
Where did you end up going to school?

Shut up we all know there the best
The smartest person here who are not the people who can get in to one of these unis, but the one who can answer the name of this song, what's the song pls?
Good Information.
.. the most expensive universities in the world ..
Coming to Oxford for a British student costs less than £30k. Hardly the most expensive.
+Luxion479
.. only the wealthy are lucky enough to afford it : )
+Bien Voir Pour Mieux Savoir no all unis in the UK cost the same, plus you don't pay if straight any it gets taken out of your salary in segments once you start earning a high enough wage
+Luxion479 £30k is actually a lot esp when you add 3 years living costs on top. University fees have increased dramatically for little additional quality improvement to show for it. Just selling a brand for your CV.
Expensive for a reason you even think of scholarships their posibal to
I saw many ratings some ratings say that cambridge is the best
others say that harvard is the best
which one is the best ?
I really want to know
if this trivial matter is keeping you awake at night, then you dont deserve to get into anyone of them, learn to focus on important things in life.
I want to start medical university which u think is best for it Pakistan or Romania
Romania, by far.
KFC Gamer wt about china
romania
I find this video so inspirational
Motivational is the word bro! XD
Don't know about the others but I went to the University of Life and it put me in very good stead
Well said my dear sir.I was getting suffocated
by the demonic materialistic comments when your comment saved me.A true wise comment! You have graduated from the Grand University Of Life!
Thank you my friend ;)
We got a philosopher here y'all
Pretty much everyone that says that is just an uneducated buffoon.
i have a question not leaving hate ok take a chill pill why are they all from the UK and the USA
Cause the guy who made this is probably from U.K. Lol
People from around the world come to usa and uk for higher education.
Patel Vidhu i have something to say
1.you have a cool icon and name
2.your right
They pay more to advertise - this is marketing and publicity.
Thanks!!
Harvard literally manages to be 1 or 2nd in any list of top universities..
They are fantastic universities, but i think that the student is important too.
Columbia should be ahead of U Chicago, and MIT. An Ivy League school in the middle of NEW YORK CITY, the whole world is at your fingertips, can't get much better than that.
Tejas Been There done that, meh.
Ivy league doesn't mean it's great
Tejas the location of a college doesn’t define if it’s academically superior
That's not how it works and those other universities are respectively in Chicago and Boston so it's not exactly like their environments are lacking.
look at different departments, then compare them between universities, that makes more sense.
Yin Wang true
Make it for 2013 :) This is pure awesomeness !
i know the professor that appears at 3:10 he is a very good teacher and i have learned a lot from him!
Nice effects
did you get university of alberta?
Columbia and NYU are pretty good school too, isn't it?
Yes
David Ngoie I doubt the difference between top 10 and top 50 is very large. They're all great universities considering there are thousands of universities in the world.
ang ganda naman ng campuses nila :D modern... sana ganyan din sa amin :)
What about Adama science and Technology University of Ethiopia?
Are you kidding?
computer says #99 on the list
Amazing song
What about Central New Mexico Community College?
Lol
does a doctorate in Narcotics business trading, one of the best in the world....
Do you offer online Masters in PE and sports as well scholarship
Amazing 😍

Yes, definitely switch either imperial or UCL with Cornell :)
Its crazy thinking that my siblings have gotten accepted into 2 or more of these universities.
I have an offer at Cambridge.... just gotta get the grades... results are published in August. I am feeling terribly pessimistic! :P

What is the song used in the video?

the top 2 university is cambridge and harvard in 2015 but actually happen to these two in 2016 i heard the best is massechuset and stanford rightnow? why did these 2 drop down.
What about Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University?
MIT vs caltech vs Stanford
In astrophysics and/or nuclear physics. Someone pls give me an answer.
Is there any good university outside of the UK and USA? This video sounds biased
This is not right, i am ok with the begining or the schools in it, but the ranking is not right. Cambridge is maybe the best, but you totally forgot (and it should be second then) to include West Point in this video, which was ranked by Forbes as the best college in the America.
Thank you
Very intersting !
Yeah, I mean this list in particular is more "Britaincentric". The thing about US schools is that the immigrants who go to these universities fuel the fire of school grades and reputation around the world. It's one of the reasons why in many cases better to get a degree from a university in America, because people around the world will know of those universities.
but i want to go one of these university but can any one to provide me some sagession
