Nice find indeed hello from Australia opal miner here. @ 13:52 that is a windless its a form of hoist manually driven by the handle the wire or rope wraps around the cylinder.

Yah I’m was thinking of it as a manual winch but windless is definitely the right term. We don’t have too many really old mines like this here that are open

Yah a couple retired guys have been cutting those trails for a bit now to keep busy. I ran into them twice, first time the dude literally staggered out of a bush with a weed whacker.
We left a water bottle in the 1900 level by mistake, so will go back and get it at some point.

Great video I enjoyed it. Were the intro shorts all from the same location?

The shorts in the intro are from all the recent explores, since March of 2023.

It was really cool to find such a old mine. Especially when we have been searching for it since the mid 2000s

Hell ! Right away I discovered that I wasted 40 Years of my life Searching for the Lost Mine only because I Was Searching for the Ureaka Mine !!!

Yah I find a lot of mines we find, can piggy back off other mine names from other places. It’s interesting to say the least.
