Hey everyone! I hope you enjoy this short video from our backpacking trip. Compared to the Highland Backpacking Trail, I found this one easier, but I didn't like the campsites as much. Have you hiked either trail? What did you think? Also, I realized after posting the video that we had a can with us in Algonquin (for tomato sauce). THIS WAS A MISTAKE. I totally forgot about the Park’s ban on bottles and cans. Sorry about that!
Hey I just came back from a short trip with another TH-camr and your name came up. Just had to come over and say hi 👋🏻. I'm heading back in the canoe, so I'll come browse around later. Take care✌️
It was around 35-40 km - I think the full trail is 32 km, but some of the sites are quite far off the main trail. We also went fully around Maggie Lake which added on an extra 2 km I think.
Great video! How much did your bags weigh? I did this trip in June with my wife. Will be posting it later this month! You two rocked it - we were dead.
Thanks so much! My bag originally weighed 10 kg + 2 kg for food, but my friends backpack was much smaller than mine so I added another kg or so from her bag into mine. Overall I’d estimate hers was 8 or 9 kg and mine was 13 or 14 kg.
@@OntarioWoodlandAdventures Yeah it was my first time trying to be trying ultralightweight! It didn't totally work - it ended up being colder than forecasted so my fleece liner wasn't warm enough and it would have been nice to have an extra set of clothing, but overall I was pretty happy with it!
In Algonquin you book a specific lake and around the lake there will be some number of campsite you can camp on :) For this route we booked Maggie Lake West and Ramona Lake for our sites

Looked like a fun Hike. Thanks for taking us along.
Loved the video. Thanks for sharing. That looked like an awesome hike!
Thanks Fred! It was a great hike - I'd like to do the Eastern Pines next to round out the Algonquin backpacking trails :)
Leaving for my first solo hike here tomorrow your video was awesome and got me super excited :) subscribed!
How was it?

@@VoyageurTripper thanks so much, I will do it in October!
How long did it take to get to maple leaf lake?

@@VoyageurTripper Wow nice weights! My bag was much heavier unfortunately lol XD

Need a reflector oven for the 🍕!
I have one for canoe trips! But it's a bit too heavy for backpacking
Do you just pick a random spot and say "this looks good. Lets set up camp here?"
