I think the American people have to step up to their multiple issues and decide what they want. Ie, capitalism vs socialism, the true intention of socialism in caring for the American people, and not labelled as “communist “ . There are many other issues to deal with as well such as higher education for everyone who is capable, not just for those who have money to pay for it, or in fact, buy a degree in whatever which results in idiots in positions of trust and in control.

I'm 70 and, in my opinion, the worst started with Reagan and his policies and rhetoric. Nixon was caught doing something both parties are guilty of doing, always have done and I'm sure still do. He at least pulled us out of Vietnam and he did have a single payer health care plan. However, I still believe that the last decent Republican president was Eisenhower

This country worships celebrity and we're too unwilling to believe our own eyes and ears when someone lies convincingly.
Basically I think it comes down to education. Republicans have underfunded and undermined and undercut education for decades and this is the result. Was this their goal,? I don't know but it's a clear result; an ignorant and educated electorate is easier to manipulate and control.

    • @philwilson609

The electoral college is the tip of the iceberg. The US political system is structurally designed to guarantee white supremacy until the end of time. Take the senate. The 14 least populated red states have about the same number of people, combined, as does California. These red states get 28 Republican senators and California gets 2 Democrats. Republicans have used these structural guard rails to generate additional warped guarantees via gerrymandering and voter suppression. Throw in a little Russian interference, a stacked Supreme Court, and, possibly, some strategies of corruption that have not even been revealed, and you know damn well that Democrats will never gain power. We are about 75% into a fascist takeover, and with the COVID pandemic providing a plausible narrative for Draconian measures, I'd be surprised if anything resembling a fair election takes place in my lifetime.

    • @Mulberrysmile
      @Mulberrysmile 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Actually, there are. The “alternative facts” that are being thrown around are usually taken out of scientific studies that have different results. We have seen how this happens: sometimes it is errors that were missed that cause different outcomes; sometimes it is purposefully done for money or to cover up a negative response that is harmful to a company or an industry; sometimes it is differences in the testing process. Yet, the differing set of conclusions are presented as factual without discussing how the differences came about. The facts are also represented as a final result, and that part is the lie. Scientific study depends upon repeatable results, and only either supports a hypothesis or not. Evidence from a tested hypothesis allows a theoretical position on some aspect of our reality to be developed. Theories become accepted as valid models when they have a preponderance of evidence to support them.
So...I observe something and it makes me think I see a pattern. I decide to test it. I form a hypothesis: when people are thinking about how they physically feel, their eyes will move to look down and left. I create a study design:
I ask 100 people to answer a question.
How does your right shoulder feel right now?
A second person watches and verifies eye movement.
100 out of 100 people did move their eyes to the down left position after being asked, and before answering.
The hypothesis is supported. I propose a theory that eye movement reflects thoughts in some manner. I design more tests.
This is not my idea, but is a subject that I read about and I did conduct the test for a class in psychology in H.S.
      If you’re interested:
down left: how the person is feeling. (We asked, Do you think you are getting a cold)
Up left or up center: a past memory. (We asked what main color was the outside of the first home you recall living in.)
Up right: imagination or future forecasting. (We asked what kind of house do you see yourself living in in 20 years)
side note...ask a person to tell you a lie and their eyes will also go up and right as they think one up, but that doesn’t mean any movement to the right indicates a lie. For example, ask them to pick a name for a shaggy dog and their eyes will go up and right, too, or even more likely go to center up then to right and up. It’s likely they are picturing a shaggy dog they have a memory of, then thinking of a name...imagining how it will fit the dog they pictured.
It was a really fun project to do...

This happen in the 1960 when the Democrats embraced and helped African Americans switched while the Republicans became the party of racism!!!!!!

Cecelia - who are you referring to?? Donald John Trump!?!?! The illegitimate President if the US?!?! REFLECTING ON HIS ACTIONS?!? Looks like his mental manipulation is still affective in some people. I’ll say a prayer for you. A reporter asked him early in his administration if he had “ever asked for forgiveness”. His response was,”No, I’ve never done anything wrong! Why would I?” Reflecting on his actions is so far from this fools mind he doesn’t have an inkling of how to go about doing that.

    • @trishsumerlin1

Dana Herron Trump is not, nor has he ever been, an Evangelical Christian. It’s just more of the mind manipulation as spelled out in most books on brainwashing, cults, Hitler and other authoritarian leaders and wannabes. The televangelists support him as they have been promised by Trumps camp to fulfill many of their wishes against abortion, LGBTQ, repealing the SCOTUS division between church and state but still hanging on to their TAX EXEMPTION! The Evangelicals are NOT concerned with the wishes or demands of WE THE PEOPLE! They believe it should be the Old Testament, vengeful God making all our laws. The biggest issue there the things they want stopped is not a n issue in the entire Bible (as is written). But stay tuned, that may change.

@BW MadDog [retired] Bro, you must be fun at a hip hop club. Jokes aside, I don't personally claim a party because identifying staunchly with a party creates a willful blind spot to candidates pitfalls. This leads to zealous party aligned voting. I challenge you to remove your blinders and look at the provable hard line facts surrounding Trump. Instead of dismissing the negative actions and comments as being out right false or out of context, look at the bigger picture. Listen to a whole story and leave your party aligned ego out of your observation. Keep you assessment rational. Imagine he is your neighbor. Not rich or powerful. Just a normal person with the same narcissistic personality. Could you be friends with him? Would you trust your wife alone with him? Just food for thought. Unless you're one of the swastika waving micro dicks who worship his thinly veiled call to racism... if that's the case, dip your comically under developed member in water and fuck your toaster while it's on. ;)

This guy Stevens is bordering on dementia, one symptoms of is neglect, another is confabulation (pretending to know but is actually self-ignorance).
He attributes the push to use chloroquine to Mr Trump and says we’re not listening to the FDA and instead Trump is pushing it, but in actuality chloroquine was shown efficacy by the Chinese then the French, and what Trump says and does is based on what the Task Force is telling him.
Ignoring all this background is like an ostrich not seeing others means they’re not there. Read my comment at the beginning. This guy is demented.

Honestly I kinda think maybe both views are totally okay & actually even beneficial overall. Some people in this country have been hurt in ways other people (like me) will never & can never fully understand. I haven’t personally been harmed by the right’s policies & ideology in any real & lasting way that can’t be undone, but I do know people who have & I definitely respect their feelings of anger, doubt, outrage, unforgiveness etc. But I’m also thankful that this guy is willing to see it & especially that he’s willing speak out about it publicly. (Even if his real motive might be to make money on a book) I’m still glad because we need to hear it & the right need to hear it from someone who’s been on their side for years. It helps in the digestion of hard truths & inconvenient information when it’s not coming from the side of the perceived “enemy”, especially at first. All of the above seems like pretty normal human ways of responding to me. If it gets us toward progress then I welcome it. The amount of effort & work he’s willing to put in over time to help reverse the damage & help in the healing will let us all know for sure his true motivation for this change. In my opinion, those of us who have the freedom to do it emotionally (because we haven’t been hurt terribly by the right’s ideology) should be the ones who welcome them back assuming we want those who are willing to come over to our side. I can do that. But you won’t see me coming down on those of you who feel totally opposite about it. I respect your right to feel that way & trust it’s for very good reason.
