Bought a new SSD for my PC of the same 17 model, and this helped immeasurably on how to disconnect the old HDD and replace it, many thanks.

Similarly, on the 17-by4633dx, attacking the back cover from the bottom of the keyboard was easier than from the hinges, saving the hinge side for last.
It was also helpful watching you prying teh case away from the keyboard/topcase sideways, rather than prying the keybopard/topcase up. The ethernet/USB side came away more easily than the CD drive side, but note that the 17-by4633dx has no CD drive, despite the huge gap inside where it used to be in other 17-by####dx models.
Once the sides were loosened, wiggling got the back/hinge side to release, so thanks for that as well.
When replacing the battery, two small posts next to the bottom posts make it easy to anchor the battery in the proper place to lower the battery's power connector onto the motherboard's connector. Hook those posts in and the battery is positioned easily.

Very instructional, thank you! One question. Where is the CMOS battery and is it replaceable? (I guess that's two questions, huh?)

I believe this model uses the main battery as the cmos battery

Has anyone found out if the M.2 slot is SATA or PCIE? I'm probably going to order one to install the OS on for my Mom.

Order an nvme ssd on Amazon and return if it doesn't work. This usually works great amzn.to/3vHdcQ5

ЭТО NVME PCIE 3/4 . НЕ SATA

It supports those, but a 2.5" SATA SSD was used.

Nail trimmers weren't used in this video. I think you're commenting on the wrong one.
